I decide to head to the Chemist and get more paracetamol and cold and flu tablets. I purchase two boxes of 100 paracetamol and two boxes of two weeks worth of cold and flu tablets. I’m optimist if we get the virus it can be treated like any other flu.
However, hubby is having none of it. He’s a chronic asthmatic - this virus has the potential to kill him and he’s taking steps to stop the virus from getting any of us. He knuckles down on the kids and cleaning hands to the point it’s driving them insane. But no one complains - because we continue to tell our kids - you might get it and be fine but if you pass it onto one of us and we die how will you feel. The guilt trip is not something I do as a parents but we will do and say anything to get them to understand how serious this is.
We get notified all sports are being postponed until further notice. J has extremely anxiety and sports and being active is his ‘medicine’. He plays club basketball and is in two social basketball teams. He’s won the school sports award for the last three years because he plays in every sport the school offers. There’s only one day a week (Saturday) that he doesn’t play. He’s devastated there are no games and now I’m worried more for him.
We have confirmed cases in Australia and ever day sees an increase. Toilet paper shortages dominate the media and I’m glad I’m not part of the problem. At least I don't think I am. I stay clear off the shops only going late in the evening to get milk and bread and something for dinner for the next few days if needed. I’m going about my shopping like I normally would. Evening shopping is a lot quieter and fewer people. I feel safer.
