Nearly Departed

And now here we are - up to date. Work is getting a little crazy. If I get one more email telling my the importance of washing my hand, my poor dry, cracked and tender hands are going to wring someones neck. We worked hard today to get our nursing homes prepared for an imminent lock down. My neighbour went in to a nursing home at the beginning of the year and up until I went away I was visiting every week. Now I haven’t seen her in two months. I worry about her. I’m afraid for her and that I might not see her again. She was our neighbour for 22 years. She and her husband (who died last year) were great neighbours. They were one of the last of the neighbours we knew. Now our neighbours build high ‘good neighbour fences’ and want nothing to do with us. Makes me sad. Our neighbours on our other side we still talk too but not very often.

Ra had a party tonight, which was cancelled, then on, then cancelled and in the end only a few of them ended up getting together. We let her go. She understands what’s going on and she really needed some space from us, especially J, he’s driving us all crazy. I’ve given his the task of creating a thirty minute work out for us to do every day. He’s doing his Cert III in Fitness so he’s excited about doing this - we’ll see how it goes.

As for me. The last few days I’ve been cutting out fabric to make more face masks. I’ve been wearing mine and I’ve had a few people ask for them and honestly, it’s keeping me distracted. Tonight I washed and irons my cut out (should have washed the fabric first then cut them out but oh well). It’s now 12.25am and I should have gone to bed hours ago but this idea of writing something took hold in the wee hours of this morning and all day words have been flowing through my mind and wouldn’t let me settle until I had written them down. I’m now going to bed - and I know it might be a few more hours before I sleep. Perhaps I'll be lucky tonight given the word vomit I’ve just done.

I haven’t said this yet - but please stay safe. I cherish each and every one of the artists and writers on this site and many other sites. I would be devastated if I lost any one of you.

Good idea, keeping such diary! I can relate to many of the things you wrote. Where I live (Israel) everybody's now encouraged to stay at home. People have mass singing sessions on balconies. I've stacked food for a month or two (and yes, toilet paper...) Schools are closed. Everything is weird. Good luck to all of us, I guess...

COVID-19 isn't going to go easy on some of us.
For me, it's either going to be the virus or my anxiety that's going to kill me. I'm hoping neither.
And I know I'm being 'over the top' and 'taking this too seriously' but honestly, right now I need something that says - I was here - in case at some point this year - I’m not.
So here's my personal take on my experiences with COVID-19.
