Ignoring some of those absurd stats, some of these were honestly useful. Seduction, I never planned to use even if I were held at gunpoint. Even if it weren't locked, I never ever planned to use it. Charisma, however, sounds very useful.
After I'd gotten out of the bath, requested more tea and dressed myself, I sat on the edge bed.
Taking a deep breath, I steeled my nerves and opened my status again. Although I already saw it, my physical strength is really weak isn't it? Well I'm still a four-year-old with no training so it's understandable but... things like intelligence and mentality are probably influenced by my mental age, huh? Is this amount of luck normal? Who should I compare it to? The amount of mana was definitely off the charts.
I thought about selecting strength and... a small dialogue box popped up over the menu.
STRENGTH: Physical strength
and endurance/durability of
the object/person.
Influences Health value.
'So that's why my health value was so low.' Maybe I did need to start seriously training my body.
I continued selecting the skills and inspecting them, starting with the passive skills.
Blessings of The Love Goddess (SS): Raises luck by 50. Increases beauty, artistry and inexplicably enchants those around you.
"..." It figures.
Charm (SS): Makes you appear very attractive to all sexes. Makes it impossible to ever appear unsightly in front of others. Increases the chances of being picked randomly.
"..." Continuing.
Ethereal Glow (S): Hair, skin and nails always shine slightly with an unearthly light. Prevents all status effects caused by dark magic.
Somewhat useful, but... I began to wonder what other people saw when they looked at me...
Charisma (SS): Increases the chances of gathering, keeping and convincing followers.
Now we're cooking. This could be very useful to me right that instant. What I needed most was strong support and help to make up for the physical strength I currently lacked.
Muse (A): Instantly master any instrument, dance and/or art.
Okay, that wasn't so bad. I could probably find some use for that later on. Aphrodite mentioned something about giving me blessings in music and dancing in the past life as well, so this was probably another carry over.
Indifference (A): Makes you immune to flinching during spell casting and prevents status effects "Fear", "Infatuation" and "Intimidation".
Very useful. Though I was starting to think that some of these skills were directly related to my personality and actions.
Leadership (A): Enables you to stay calm, assuring and quick witted in difficult situations. Increases the chance of others following you unconsciously.
Merchant (SS): Decreases the chance of getting conned or disadvantaged during all transactions.
These were very useful as well. I moved on to the active skills. They were few, only four. It was probably because I hadn't really done much to learn any new ones. In my memory there were other things I knew how to do, and I don't think that I'd suddenly be unable to do them just because it didn't appear on the menu... I needed to experiment more.
Schemer (S): Allows you to prepare a second, third and fourth spell in advance while the first spell is still in progress. Negates the skill "Foresight".
Another gem......... but the name of this one somehow makes me feel slightly pissed...
Haggle (S): Increases the chance of getting a lower price or greater profit during all transactions.
Appraisal (D): Allows you to view the status menu of people/objects of lower levels or five levels higher than you. (Range increases with grade)
The last two also Appeared very useful even though appraisal was still at a low level. I could probably raise the level later on.
I'd been putting it off for a while but... I sighed and opened it anyway.
Seduction (SS)《LOCKED》: Allows one to successfully entice any target within a specified range anywhere inside their line of sight. Inflicts status effect "Infatuation" and decreases the opponents attack. High chance of inflicting "Madness" on the target as well. 《Prereq: Puberty》
I had conflicting feelings about this skill. It was definitely a double-edged sword... I couldn't use it until I hit puberty, so for now it was out of mind and out of sight.
I sighed once more and closed the menu before finally letting it sink in that I was really in a fantasy game setting. There was no going back.
I scrubbed a hand down my face and straightened up. First, I needed to accompany Ronnie for breakfast, then I would continue with my first order of business: finding some way to learn magic.
I took a deep breath and stepped out into the corridor with a calm face.
In the next few months before my birthday, I blew through Verne estate's library which was much more varied than the one back home, but still, I found no beginner's books on magic. I still knew nothing about manipulating mana, and there was no one who I could turn to to teach me right this minute. Magicians weren't all that widespread. You first required training on how to sense and manipulate mana outside your body. I couldn't go out seeking a teacher with the blessings hanging over my head either. The only magic Claire and Verne were capable of is making money disappear.
I also found, using appraisal, that the servants of Onyx house were all quite capable with all of them being at least above level twelve. None of them were magicians, however, and they could only manipulate their internal mana.
I'd recently taken to sneaking out and jogging in the middle of the night to at least get a little training in. I had asked the guard captain to help me train my body, but... All the guards burst into tears talking about how I had no need unless they were lacking in their job.
I really didn’t have the patients to handle the group of blubbering grown men, so I chose to silently jog at night while secretly using appraisal on things.
My rewards came in the form of my speed going up to 17, dexterity going up to 9, strength going up from 5 to 15 and my health subsequently becoming 250/250. I was now level 4, and right at a bottleneck in my growth.
Appraisal also went up to (C) rank. I could now view the status of people up to level 18.
Maddie was lvl: 40, Claire lvl: 8, Verne lvl: 9, Veronica lvl: 1 and Luke lvl: 35.
I couldn't view the guards' levels meaning they were higher than lvl 18.
My seventh birthday came and went with a small celebration among the servants, Ronnie and me. It really wasn't necessary but... it made them happy so why not? Claire was still too blissful spending Verne's money to notice which was for the best. I was now aware of the cur--... blessings that Aphrodite put on me, so while I was still unable to effectively defend myself, meeting those handsy nobles was a nono.
The results of my physical training were far from satisfactory. I needed more than simple jogging to get stronger. I didn't know when Claire's glittery married life was going to start coming down around all our ears, so I wanted to be prepared enough to take care of myself and Ronnie.
Ah......
Maybe that thought was a jinx.
