I bit my nails anxiously as I stared at the dimly lit screen of my laptop, waiting for the result that could make or break me. Refreshing my inbox one more time, my heart pounded in my chest as my eyes scanned the screen.
1 new email. Click to view.
I gasped, my finger hovering over the mouse. Clicking the email, I shut my eyes, afraid of what I was about to see. In front of me was the email confirming whether or not I was going to be accepted into Novella High School. It has been my dream high school ever since my brother had graduated and became one of the greatest top wizards of all time! My fate lied in this one email.
Who am I kidding, why would they accept me ? Out of all talented people, they would they choose me?! A blip-less nerd with no talent and no physical abilities whatsoever. Why would they accept someone who didn't have what the school was designed for? I sighed, before I had anymore thoughts that were destroying my mental health in its already poor state.
Nervously, I opened my eyes, ripping off the band-aid quickly. I slowly read the letter, taking in its contents. I couldn't believe what I was reading....
I had got in! I HAD ACTUALLY GOTTEN IN! I jumped up from my warm bed (big mistake) causing my laptop to tumble to the floor. Oops...
I examined the screen for cracks, before deeming it alright to use and placed it gently on my bed. I pumped my fists in the air, jumping around like a lunatic, repeating, "I GOT IN! I ACTUALLY GOT IN!"
Eventually, my mom knocked on the door and popped her head into the room.
"What's all this racket about, Jax?"
I gave her a shit-eating grin as I said, "I GOT INTO NOVELLA!'
She smiled at me, "That's nice Jax, but can you please tidy up your room? It's a complete mess!"
I looked at the one piece of rubbish on the ground and sighed, my mood ruined. "Fine mom..."
I watched silently as she left my room and I chucked the piece of rubbish into the trash and crashed into my bed. Why can't she ever be happy for me? She always finds small issues in what I do and never appreciates a single good thing I do! Me wanting to go to Novella was partially to prove to my mother that even though I have no blip, I can still become a top wizard, just like my brother that she loves so much.

Two months after I had heard the news that I had been accepted into Novella High, I was outside the school gates of the prestigious school, my suitcase and backpack in hand. I stared up at the massive school that I would now be attending. I was so excited!
I pulled my slipping backpack up my shoulder again, ran my hand through my messy, dirty blonde hair and carried walking into the massive school. Students milled about in the halls wearing their casual clothes, since school hadn't started yet. I made my way through the school, unsure of where I should go. I watched as freshmen, like me, looked around terrified, or amazed, and making their way to the main office.
I followed them and finally, I arrived at the registration area, where freshman were getting their dorm numbers and mingling with the other students. I watched as people showed off their blips. Some had incredible power, while others were quite feeble in comparison.
I jumped as I felt a tap on my back, I turned around to find a short girl almost 2 heads shorter than me, smiling up at me. She had hair up into a bun, she wore an oversized shirt which said 'Taste the Rainbow, Bitches" , which she tucked into a black miniskirt.
"Wow, you're so short!" I blurted out. I covered my mouth immediately feeling my pale freckled face flush a deep scarlet. The girl frowned and kicked me in the shin.
"Wow," she scoffed. "Rude.."
She crossed her arms pouting as I hopelessly tried to apologize.
"I am SO sorry, I do not know why I said that, I'm just super nervous. I promise I'm not like that usually!" I rambled stupidly.
She laughed slapped my back a tad bit too hard. "I'm kidding with ya, loosen up a bit!" she giggled. "I'm Stelar, what's your name?"
"Jaxon, but I prefer to go by Jax," I said.
"Cool, what's your blip?" she asked. My pulse skyrocketed as I heard the dreaded question. I gulped.
"U-uhm"
"Don't be shy, you can show me!"
I pulled at my shirt collar, it suddenly felt really hot. What was I going to say? If I told her I had no blip, she would probably make fun of me! Then my life at Novella High would be ruined before it even started!
"Well... you see....... my magic is too powerful to show outside, so I can't actually show you. Plus I don't wanna drag attention to myself, you know?" I lied unconvincingly.
Her eyes went to the size of saucers. "Woah! That's so cool!"
I smiled wearily, relieved she hadn't caught my bluff. I nodded, not trusting my voice to not reveal my obvious lie.
"Yeah, uhm, I'm gonna go get my dorm number ok?" I replied, trying to avoid her and the subject.
"I can come with you! I need mine too!"
Oh shit.

Finally I had gotten to my dorm and had gotten rid of Stelar. She was nice and all, but she kept asking questions about my 'blip' that I didn't even have. As much as I tried to avoid the subject, she brought it up so much that I had to make something up. I sighed (something I had been doing a lot recently) and opened the door to my dorm. 275. The door opened to reveal a spacious room with a small kitchen, a living area a bathroom and 2 decently sized bedrooms.
I opened the door to one of the bedroom and stepped inside. It was unfurnished apart from a bed, a desk, a wardrobe, a bedside table and a TV. 'Nice' I thought to myself. I placed my suitcase on the floor, too lazy to unpack and landed onto my bed with a THUD. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to sink into the soft warm bed. It had been a long and exhausting day but,
I could get used to this...
