Two options unfold themselves before me and fight to be chosen.
The first of the two being to lie about my actions and the second to ignore all reason and attack him.
In the end I choose to lie, but keep my stance with my hands frozen behind me.
"I’m just a tad scared, you just said people were going to try to murder me."
The stern expression he gives me softens and merges with what looks like amusement.
However, it isn’t until I see him smirk and a hunch of one eyebrow that I fully sense that.
"Ashton, I understand that what I said is hard to believe without basis, but does that really dignify attacking me without fully hearing me out?"
"How do you know my name!?"
Panic clenches my body instantly, and the regret of not attacking when I had the chance surges powerfully throughout me.
"If you let me finish explain you’ll find out how."
To die or not to die is what I hear but in the end I figure fighting when I’ve been discovered would be useless and curiosity wins.
"Hurry up and explain!"
At this point I could care less about hiding the terror and rudeness that I lash out with.
"Great!!
Okay where was I-
Oh yeah!!
So as said people will come from all over to get to you and to your disbelief kill you."
I really wished he skipped over that part, yet instead of interrupting continue to listen in silence.
"The reason being for that is the red string of fate I mentioned or as my people say it’s because you’re my mate."
"Wait pause, rewind." The outburst comes out unintentionally when my struggle to comprehend what was said arises.
"What do you mean by mate? You know that’s a term more so used for animals and not humans right?"
I must be irritating him by interrupting but I ignore the loud deep breath that’s released from him.
If he wants me to hear him out he needs to be prepared for my questions.
"Yes, I am fully aware and to clarify that I’ll tell you in simplified terms I’m only fifty percent human."
"Excuse me."
Yup, I should’ve knocked him out when the I had the chance.
"I’m what you call a in paranormal terms a werewolf."
The rigid silence that creeps into the room is thick for a moment but quickly filled with the sound of my laughter.
Whether it be from anxiety, fear, or stress is unknown but nonetheless it comes out as uncontrollable and hysterical.
"You can’t be serious, you mean to tell me you truly think your a creature that turns into a wolf during the full moon and howls at it?
Do you have any idea how insane you sound!?"
"Would you like proof then?"
His question helps to kill off my laughter but giggles still fight to be released.
"Yeah, that’d be perfect actually!
Matter of fact if your able to somehow miraculously prove it I’ll believe everything you’ve said.
Though, if you can’t you have to leave peaceful with no future further encounters."
The phrase you better keep your promise is quickly vocalized.
In which I reply with a casual shrug and nod.
For a while I stand in amusement and nothing happens.
Seconds tick always on the clock on the wall behind me and not long after a few of them I start to calculate the situation at hand.
He’s not going to try to kill me is he?
The single realization of that being a option lures me to creep closer to the lamp, but then I catch glimpse of his eyes and stop in complete awe.
The appearance of them comes to a huge shock as I find that they are no longer the blue eyes I was once mesmerized by earlier.
I’m mesmerized again however, but for a entirely different reason now.
They’ve changed into an entirely different color.
Amber.
The dark honey color appears so striking even within the lights of the shop.
The breathtaking vividness of the eyes although a major shock comes out more beautiful than terrifying to me.
It’s almost enough to have me let my defenses down till he breaks my trance.
"Does that satisfy as enough proof? Or do you require more?"
I’m tempted to spit out yes, but I force myself to think out the situation rather than hastily choosing that to quench my interest.
I don’t know if anyone or any situation of people who can change they’re eye color without contacts.
Also I made sure to watch him, and he moved nothing but his eyes.
But is this really enough to hear out a crazy person?
The decision at hand chews me up relentlessly.
But I choose to force myself to be satisfied with the performance in case something to overwhelming occurs next.
"No, that’ll do."
My answer must be satisfactory for him also, because before a seconds passed his eyes are back to normal.
Then without any explanation of what just occurred he jumps right back into the hurricane of confusion he’s causing.
"So I’m going to hopefully assume you know of the whole alpha, beta, omega concept that wolves have.
If not I’ll explain later."
He must’ve noticed the raising of my eyebrow but instead of cutting him off I surrender all right of questioning and listen.
"I’m an alpha and you are my omega.
That being said it’s because we’re mates that your in danger and before you say anything it couldn’t be prevented.
The reason behind them wanting to kill you though is to get to me.
It’s actually all in order to take away my position as alpha and my pack."
This truly sucks.
Even though I loathe to admit even a fraction of what’s been said as believable, the truth of the matter is all he’s said adds up with books I’ve read on how wolves act in the wild.
Yet, even that being the case it still isn’t enough to help absorb all this information being dumped on me.
"Also, to answer your previous question the reason I know your name is because we’ve met before, even though you don’t remember.
So, with all of that being said after your shift today I need you to come with me, and that’s not a request."
Ahhh, even after hearing all that and seeing all seen I’ve come to the conclusion he truly is crazy, and it’s sad to admit but that’s all I needed to hear to do what I do next.
I finally attack.
