The Love That Matters

"Guys," Steph sighed, throwing her shoulders back. "I really feel like I'm leading him on. He's just so kissable! I don't know what to do!"

Steph was walking home with her roommates, Lesley, Eve, and Jane. It had been about a month since Steph had kissed Jer and their make out sessions had become a regular thing. Steph had been clear about not wanting to date, but Jer wasn't showing any interest in anyone else. It was making Steph feel guilty.

"I don't know why," Jane said. "You and Will are a pretty good match already."

Steph and Jane had known each other since they were 13. Jane was the only person who knew Will that Steph still regularly talked to.

"I know," Steph said. "I don't understand why I'm so attracted to Jer."

Eve looked down at the container of cookies she was carrying.

"I've got it," Eve exclaimed with a mischievous grin. "You need to eat more cookies. If you have a cookie in your mouth, you can't kiss anyone."

---

Jer was over at Steph's apartment. They were watching a movie, but Steph wasn't particularly interested in watching it. She had her legs up on the couch and was playfully poking Jer's leg with her toes. She had been trying to hold back on the kissing recently, but that usually meant they'd go about an hour together before she gave in to the urge to pin Jer down and thoroughly explore his mouth. She was getting pretty close to doing so right now, and the way Jer was giving her side-eye made it clear he knew what she was thinking, too.

Steph started chewing on the inside of her lips. It may be futile to resist, but she was going to at least last a little longer before jumping Jer. Hearing footsteps behind her, Steph looked behind her to see which of her roommates was venturing out when they knew Jer was over. Jane gave Steph a judging look and rolled her eyes before heading into the kitchen.

Steph went back to silently teasing Jer and ignored Jane's movements. Steph curled her toes around Jer's thigh and gently tugged him closer. Jer rolled his eyes before obliging.

"Open up," Jane said. Steph looked up to see her standing next to the couch.

"Wha-" Steph was silenced by a cookie being put in her mouth. Giggles erupted from the hallway. Clearly Jane, Eve, and Lesley had planned this.
