“What do I do? What do I do?’ Soulrus thought to herself. The police sirens heading towards them got increasingly louder. “Screw it” she thought before saying “Let’s go”, grabbing Grey’s hand, and running away.
-319 Years Prior-
In the year 2876, an illness known as Smagus spread across the earth. It’s origin was unknown, but it quickly attacked peoples’ hearts and brains. It spread fast and the cure took years to master. A few people did survive it and they got sent to a new planet known as Agna along with the people who never got the illness in the year 2881.
On this new planet the humans tried to make it healthier than earth. Solar powered and electric only vehicles were the only transportation that could be seen on Agna. Sure, you’d see people on bikes and such, but nothing used gas anymore. Overall the citizens of Agna agreed to cause less damage and pollution to their new planet.
Agna was a planet half the size of earth and due to this many nations combined into one. Places like Canada and the United States of America combined to create stronger nations. The name of the United States and Canada became shortened down to United. Since Earth had been destroyed by nuclear warfare, the nations on Agna did everything in their power to avoid war. Nations showed their dominance and superiority with their people’s happiness, instead of their war machines.
This small planet with soft pastel green grass, baby pink skies that were spotted with light purple dots, and bright stringy clouds was also home to many new creatures. Parvus and Nectarrams could be found in multiple locations throughout United.
A few years after moving to Agna people began to bring themselves and their children to the doctor for strange reasons. Mother’s would scream about their children’s faces or eyes changing, while grandparents questioned the abnormal color of their grandchildren’s blood. Father’s would celebrate their children sprouting wings, while dragging them into the car. These children became the first stage of the nonhumans.
After years of examining these children and watching them grow up, it was determined that the cure for Smagus had changed the D.N.A. in these children’s parents. Since the adults were fully developed when they were given the cure, it couldn’t affect them, but their children were born with the D.N.A. and were severely changed by it. For the first time in history a new species of humans was brought into existence.
Those who were nonhuman were watched constantly and experimented on. As a result, they started running away from authority and hiding. They were new and scared, but they also scared everyone else. The government leaders saw them running away and took it to mean that they were planning something to harm humans, so they started doing more experiments. All these deadly experiments were done to try to make another cure. A cure to make them human again. Nonhumans learned to live in pacts and they rarely trusted anyone who wasn’t a nonhuman.
-319 years later-
In the year 3195, the government’s still tracking down nonhumans and experimenting on them, til death. However, after hundreds of years of hiding nonhumans had been learning to blend in. The government suspects that the number of nonhumans was rising daily, but the number of nonhumans they could find was shrinking. They turned to the engineering and technology department for help and their top engineer had a creation ready in months.
The engineer known as Stan has short brown hair, with streaks of grey, Her hair always looks choppy as she’s never trusted hair parlors. She may be 50, but she still only stands at 5 feet and 3 inches tall. Her light skin goes well with her light hazel eyes, but her bushy eyebrows definitely stood out more than she wanted them too.
She led the president through the shop to her workspace. “Stan! I can’t get this code to work. Can you stop by in a bit?” She would just nod and agree to help everyone after she finished her plan for the day, but today had no plan. Today was a day of introduction to a new wave of robots that could change life in a matter of days.
“This is our stop.” Stan spoke as she walked into her workspace. A robot endoskeleton was hanging on a metal support beam. “This is our savior.” Stan introduced the dead metal skeleton. “I’ve named her Soulrus. She has the ability to scan anyone's D.N.A. instantaneously and since you offered me those samples of blood from our experiments, she knows the difference between human D.N.A. and nonhuman D.N.A. When she scans someone who doesn’t have human D.N.A., we will instantly receive a notification that a nonhuman has been located and her current location will be sent back to us as well. I know as of now she looks scary and even humans would run from her, but I have her appearance planned out!” Stan picked up a notepad with colored doodle and showed it to the president. “This is how she’ll look. Cute, friendly, and most importantly. Human.” The president thought for a second before speaking. “Stan, this is truly amazing, but how will it receive power? We can’t expect a robot to roam the world with no power supply for more than a few hours.” Stan perked up again, obviously excited to talk about her creation more. “Her hair is solar powered!” The president looked confused, so Stan explained more. “Her hair has strands of solar string embedded into it! This way the only time she may lose power is at night time, but we can troubleshoot a solution for that too! She already has a space for a backup battery, but I need to find a way to make her backup battery not need to be completely replaced.” A small smile grew on the president’s face. “When will it be ready for testing, Stan?” Stan smiled back, “All I need is a week to make her look human and she’ll be ready for the world.” The president nodded and said one last thing, before leaving the workspace. “I’ll be more than happy to meet Soulrus in a week. I trust you to meet the deadline.”
Stan walked over to the metal beam holding up Soulrus and pressed a button, which lowered the endoskeleton to the ground. “It’s finally your time to be alive, Soulrus. Just have some work to do before your big reveal.”
