Delilah and Tom - Present
Delilah wakes up startled with the insistent knocking on the apartment’s door. After recognizing the voice on the other side, she gets up from the sofa and stumbles on a knitted pillow lying on the carpet. Her heart races from the fall while she heads to the entrance. To avoid tripping again, the woman walks with her hand on the painted walls for an extra support.
- Dede, I know you're there... I saw the TV lights on your window. Come on, let me in... I need you... now... pleeeeeease…
Followed by a click, Thomas falls on his knees on the “welcome home” mat. Delilah pinches her nose in disgust.
- Damn, Tom… Your stench almost gets me drunk, too...
Still in the same position with a lowered head and arms hanging down, his body shakes with laughter.
- Oh, Dede... You’re sooooooooooooooo funnyyyyyy…
Delilah helps her friend to get up. With baby steps, they walk slowly to the grey couch in the living room, where he collapses like a dead body. In a short while, she comes back with two steaming cups from the kitchen.
- Coffee for you and tea for me...
She stands there for some seconds looking at that man already asleep with his head dropped back.
- Or not… Sleep well, cat. We’ll talk tomorrow.
She takes his shoes off and adjusts the blanket on him, then drinks her tea before going to bed.
