Ms. Alexis had returned, with a shout she brought everyone’s attention to her, “SEX! Good now that I have you horny kid’s attention, I would like to talk to you all about our next huge ass assignment! You will be assigned one town or city in northern California and learn all about its history. You will present it in front of the class with a partner, no you do not get to pick, I have chosen partners that have around the same grades you do. This means that slackers, your partner will not do the whole fudging thing for you, you actually have to do work! *Gasp* It is due next Monday since it is Thursday you only have three days. You will present in class, we may not get through all presentations, but I will look at your edit history, don’t even try to use the extra time.”

“I will list off pairs now, Ron & Diane, April & Tom, Sophie & Fitz, Biana & Tam, Dearan & Stephen, Ira & Howard, Ben & Leslie, Jam & Tammy, Iris & Hala Bros, Adri & Toby, Ron & Dianne, if I didn’t call your name come find me, if not check your email, it has the town/city you have been assigned there. Get your booties to work.”

Stephan walked over to Dearan, and took a seat to the left of the other’s. Stephan said in a very constructed manner, “A) I am so happy I am not being forced to team up with the first person to ask me, cause they always are a slacker, so thank you. B) I look forward to getting to know you more before we go on a road trip together even though we just started talking. C) What town did we get? I kind of am assuming since you are on your computer you are checking your email, and not playing Mindcraft,” Stephan said a smile seemingly permanently plastered on his face.

“Oh hell no, I don’t get kids who come here, and play Mindcraft, at that point is there a reason to come to school at all? Also, Poortal is so much better than Mindcraft, if you play a video game at school don’t waste your time.” Dearan said, letting out a soft, high pitched, giggle like, laugh. “Humans are so stupid and annoying.”

“Good thing I am not a human,” Stephan said trying to get Dearan to laugh again, and to even Dearan’s surprise, his attempt was successful.

Dearan shook his head after he finished his giggle-laugh, he was back to business. “We got assigned Gualeluh? I’m not sure how to say it…”

“Gua-la-la is how you say it, have you never been? It is about three hours north of here but totally worth the drive. It is a small town, with tons of trails and beaches, the ocean view is so pretty, and the waves are amazing. My family has a house up there. We should go spend a night up there-for research purposes that is!” Stephan said, his excitement exploding out.

“Okay,” Dearan said, surprising the other boy. “What? Do you think I want to miss out on what sounds like a fun way to research? What are you doing this weekend?”

“I’m sorry, this weekend I am actually taking my partner for this project up the coast…” Stephan said seriously, it took Dearan a few moments to figure out it was a joke.

“How about we leave after school tomorrow? Are you okay with sharing a car? Technically we are still minors, but one of us can sit in the back seat and not bother the other!”

“Sounds good, would you rather have a chauffeur, or be a chauffeur? Also if I am driving you are not sitting in the back, that distracts me more than someone next to me.”

“No preference, how long did it take you to pass your driver’s test? How long have you had your license?” Dearan queried, as usual, he was a voice exuding logic.

“Passed both tests on the first try, no notes, no questions missed. I’ve had my license for eight months,” to seal himself in as someone funny he added, “I passed the tests so easily because obviously, I am perfect.”

“I passed both first time too, but have had it six months, are you okay driving?”

“On one condition,” Stephan said menacingly.
