I was sat down in a chair next to the pissed off hungover guy who'd broken into my house last night, with my parents sitting beside me. I kept noticing him looking at me, and my parents kept looking at him, as if assessing his sexuality. Maybe he wasn't as drunk last night as i thought, because he definitely looked like he recognized me. I wasn't paying much attention to what the principal was saying, but i knew that he said something that set my parents off.
"Cadence will not be sharing a dorm if there is only one bed!" My father exclaimed in outrage. That was all i heard of the conversation before Blake and I were asked to depart the office and wait outside. I did as I was told while my parents sat on the edges of their seats, gripping their chairs seethingly, their knuckles turning white.. I let out a long sigh as the door shut behind Blake and I and ran a hand through my golden hair.
"It's you." Blake had said, and I turned around to look at him.
"Yeah, it is. And if you tell my parents, or even hint that you broke into my house last night and I saw you, then I will rip your head off." I threatened, attempting to make myself seem bigger and more intimidating. He just laughed at me, and I have to admit, my confidence fell apart at that.
"Chill." That same thing he'd said the night before. "I'm not gonna let them know." He smiled. Then he said something that made me feel like hiding myself behind something like a child.
"Also, if I did, i doubt you'd be able to do anything to me. You're tiny." He placed a hand on tom of my head, barely even raising his arm and I let out a small indignant squeak, grabbing his arm and twisting it behind his back, something I'd learned from my father, but never been able to do. Well, at that moment i was able to do it. I realize what i did as I placed a hand on his back, applying the perfect amount of pressure to make it really hurt. I let go of his arm and he fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
"Shit.." He curses, his voice strained. Just as I was about to apologize, an idea popped into my head.
"Don't underestimate me." I said proudly, my confidence starting to return at that point. Blake huffed and pushed himself up, annoyed.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He murmured, and I'd recognized the word of defeat immediately. I'd cheered silently in my head before smirking.
"I'll do it again if I have to." I said, probably pushing my luck with things at that point. Karma was definitely going to come and take a huge bite out of my ass.
"Sure. I bet that was a fluke." He said, and i'd flushed bright red because he was absolutely and utterly correct, a fluke is exactly what it was. He laughs lightly. "Kidding. You seem to generally know how to defend yourself." He smiled, and I almost let out a sigh of relief, if i hadn't been distracted by how charming his smile was. It was like it could just draw you in, no matter who you were. It was like a trap, set to capture you because you couldn't help yourself.
"What, is there something on my face?" He questioned, and I squeezed my eyes shut, turning my face away and scrunching up my nose.
"Yes, it's spelled U-G-L-Y." I said.
"Haha, very funny." He said in a monotone voice, looking slightly pissed off when I looked at him out of one of my eyes. "I never caught your name." He said to me, and I'd rolled my eyes.
"Didn't Mr.Whathisface tell you?" I questioned, a little confused.
"He did, but i never caught it from you." I rolled my eyes.
"It's Cadence." I sighed, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I would introduce myself, but i think my drunk-self did that." He chuckled softly, and my cheeks flushed red again.
"Whatever." I muttered, diverting my gaze from his. At that moment, the door of the principals office opened and my parents came out, followed by the principal. They looked vexed. I took a quick step back, to distance myself from Blake, and looked down at the ground, waiting on the say of my parents.
"Let's go get your bags Cadence. You have a lot of things to take to your dorm." My mother said, stopping in front of me and putting her hand on my shoulder as my father brushed past me, silent, but a deadly aura surrounded him. He looked scary enough to make Blake back up. I gave a small glance to Blake before turning and leaving, my mother on my heels.
