Our second day of classes went fairly easily, we didn’t run into Libryinth much, but Lil was constantly getting text alerts and she didn't tell us who it was. Everyone seamed adjusted to Lil and I being alpha and beta. Everything was working out really well, and it was fun. The next thing I knew we had been at school a month already. I guess what they say is true, time flies when you’re having fun. We already had a run in with Arbid’s heat, it was bad in the beginning, Zander and Braden were both affected by it. Lil was in a pack alpha meeting and I had texted her. Winnie, Bex, and I were barely able to hold the alphas off, when Lil arrived. She ran to her room and grabbed one of her collars, then rushed to Arbids side. Once she put the collar on, she came out slapped both alphas in the back of the head and chewed them out about trying to jump him. After that she gave Arbid a supply of the collars and refills. After that everything was back to normal, you couldn’t even tell Arbid was in heat, it must be a really high dosage.

For the past week or so, Lil has been really busy, in between classes, studying, training, and all the recent pack alpha meetings they have been having. She seams really worn out. It concerns me, maybe I should ask if I can help out anymore then I already am, maybe take some of the weight off her shoulders. I don’t know tomorrows Saturday and its already really late I should probably get some sleep. I rolled over and went to sleep.

What’s that smell? I woke up and sat straight up in my bed, I checked the time it was 4:37 in the morning. The smell is getting stronger. I got out of bed and walked out into the hallway. Everyone in the pack was at their doors too, I looked around to see if Lil was out here. She wasn’t. If she’s in heat and and doesn't have her collar on, we're in trouble.

I looked at Braden and Zander, their eyes were glazed over, “Oh no” slipped out of my mouth, “Winnie, Bex, get them back in their rooms! I’m getting Ash!” I ran down the hallway, if this is Lil’s heat, why can I smell it? I finally reached Ash’s room and banged on the door. “Ash! Ash! You need to get up! It’s an emergency!”

Ash suddenly opened his door, “What is it?” He rubbed his eyes as he spoke. He looked really groggy, I kinda feel bad waking him up at this hour.

“It’s Lil, I think she’s in heat. But I can smell it.” I didn’t realize it at the time but I was shaking as I spoke. I didn’t know what I could do, I felt helpless.

Ash’s face fell, and he woke up completely. He started running down the hall, but he stopped in front of a door that didn’t belong to the pack. Now that I think of it, in the past month we never meet any of our neighbors. Ash banged on the door practically screaming at it, “LIBRYINTH! GET UP! IT'S LIL!”

I heard a load commotion from inside, the next thing I knew the door slammed open, Libryinth pushed Ash out of the way and sprinted down the hallway. Ash was right behind him. This was the first time I had seem Libryinth like this, he looked so worried. He yelled back at Ash as they were going down the hallway, “Shit Ash, I knew this was going to happen! She’s been getting drained this past week, she hasn’t transformed at all! Damn it! Why doesn’t she ever listen to me!”

“We don’t have time to discuss this. We need to help Lil, you out of all people know how bad her heats are. She won’t let anyone else help her, you need to ease someone else in her comfort zone.” We reached Lil’s door, when Ash finished speaking.

Libryinth tried opening the door, it was locked. He looked over at me, “Your room shares the back hallway with Lil’s, right?” I nodded quickly, “Perfect, I’ll get in that way.”

He pushed by me and ran into my room and through the back door into the hallway. Ash put his hand on my shoulder and pulled me into a hug, I was so shocked I hadn’t realized tears were streaming down my face. “It’s okay Juniper. Shh, it’s okay. Libryinth is in there, we will check in on her in a minute.”

I pushed him away, “Libryinth is a alpha! He’ll jump her!” I screamed, I didn’t realize I was this protective over her. I mean, she is just like my little sister.

“Whoa, hold on. Yes he’s an alpha, but he is also her twin. Her smell doesn’t effect him like a usual alpha, he can smell her but he still has control of his body, okay? After her heat, you need to make sure she uses her transform on a regular basis. It helps tone down her heat” He smiled warmly, I nodded and whispered ‘okay’, he pulled me into a tighter hug, “Awwww, you are so cute when you are acting like a big brother! You must treasure Lil just like I do.”

I smiled, “Yeah, she reminds me of my littlest sister, she reminds me of home.”

Lil’s door swung open, Libryinth stood in the doorway, then stepped to the side letting Ash and I in. Libryinth closed the door behind us and locked it, he walked over to Lil and checked on her. He sat next to her on the bed, she was still asleep, “She won’t walk up till the morning, I’ll stay to keep an eye on her. I’ll leave the back door unlocked so you two can come in whenever and check in on her. I'll be leaving before she wakes up, I highly doubt she wants to see me.”

“Thank you Libryinth, I know we really haven’t talked, and I really appreciate you helping her. But, just so you know, I still don’t trust you.” I don’t like him being here, and knowing that he lives on the same floor worries me now. “I will also be staying here, I want to keep an eye on her.”

“Well… I guess we three are spending the rest of the night together, we still don’t know if any other alphas have been affected and I don’t want to chance it. And I’m not sure if you two can be in the same room without fighting, and I am a great mediator.” Ash looked at both of us with a smile, but neither of us returned it.

The three of us sat there in silence, I could still smell her scent but it was slowly fading. Libryinth sat on the floor in front of the bed, I sat with my back against the wall opposite of the bed, and Ash sat at the desk. I haven’t taken my eyes off Libryinth, he doesn’t seam to really mind, he’s just sitting there staring at his feet with the most worried expression. There is defiantly something about her heat they aren’t telling me.

A while past, I didn’t know how long so I picked up my phone to check the time, but before I looked, Libryinth spoke up, “It’s about 6:46,” He looked up at me when he spoke, “check if you don’t believe me.”

I checked my phone, and sure enough it was 6:46am, “You’re right… how'd you know?”

“Oh easy answer…” He showed me his left wrist, there was an old fashioned pocket watch tattoo, “It’s not a tattoo… before PVT… Lil was attempting a spell and I kinda got in the way…” he chuckled as he recalled the memory, “Lil was so upset that she put the pocket watch on my wrist, all I could do was laugh. But it’s also spot on, so know what time it is, wherever I go.” This was the first time I had ever seen him genuinely smile. He looked like a really nice guy when he smiled.

“Wait you said before PVT… she could’ve only ben like 10 or 11, how was she performing spells then?” I looked at both of the guys, but they both just smiled to themselves.

“Ummm… how do I put this… Lil is ridiculously strong, like really ridiculous.” Libryinth smiled again, “She was just always really shy and didn’t want people to treat her differently. She didn’t want to be special… she tried to be ‘normal’… until I broke her she never talked to anyone first… they always had to come up to her.”

“Libryinth… you just sounded like a really caring and loving brother. What the hell?” After my comment, Ash and Libryinth broke out in an uncontrollable laughter fit. I looked at both of them shocked.

“Hey! Don’t sell me short. Lil is my little twin sis, yeah I will admit that I did treat her like shit for two years. And I have no excuse. But she is still my little sis and I do love her.” Libryinth smiled, “Do you really think that Ash would have gotten me tonight if he knew I would hurt her? No matter what happened between Lil and I, if her heat would come on suddenly when she wasn’t suspecting it. I was the only one able to get close enough to help her. But that is usual when you’re a destined omega or alpha.”

“Destined? Destined omega? Lil’s a destined omega? When did this happen? How did this happen? I thought that was only with transforms that were really rare?”

Libryinth looked so confused, and Ash looked just as shocked as me, “Oh shit…” Libryinth sunk his head into his hands. “I’m so dead. I've lived a nice life. Please bring flowers to my funeral.”

“Lib. What are you talking about?” Ash looked so overly pissed, I didn’t know much about destined omegas and alphas.

“Ahhh… so she didn’t tell you? Man I thought she told you everything…” Libryinth took his head out of his hands, “A couple years ago when Lil and I had our first runt and heat, mom took us to be checked out, like everyones mom would. And while Lil and I were getting our results they said that she was a destined omega. Lil didn’t let them tell mom. Only her and I knew, but I thought she would have told you Ash. Didn’t you ever suspect it though? I mean… she’s never had a boyfriend or crush, never kissed anyone, and hasn’t ever thought of anyone as anything more than a sibling or acquaintance. I mean when she talks to us about her friends she acts like their siblings. You never suspected ever?”

“No! Why would I suspect that! I thought she was just really picky with guys and that she just hated most people.” Ash replied.

“Sorry to interrupt but umm can someone please explain me how she is a destined omega and what that really means about her? I don’t understand.” I needed an explanation right now. I was so lost.

“Oh yeah, well her transform is really rare so its hard for her to really know what she is and she’s still trying to figure it out completely, right?” I nodded in response to Libryinth, “And you know she’s an omega. For starters a destined omega will only be affected by a destined alpha with the same transform type’s runt. Any other runt they will be able to smell it but won’t be attracted to the alpha. Lil usually just gets really mad at them instead. Next their heat’s are usually really potent and strong, they will uncontrollably spread their pheromones so far and thick that every alpha will get affected. In an open area, it was spread up to a mile circumference in an open area with them as the middle point. Doctors believe this is subconsciously used as a way of searching for their destined alpha. But their pheromones are so strong that betas can also smell them, usually this is used as a protection device. So they aren’t alone in their weakened form.”

“Weakened form? But don’t the suppressants deflect the heat symptoms? Isn’t that why she made the collar?” I was getting worried, if she is weaker in this form how did she go to PVT?

“Juniper, for her the collar and suppressants only take away the fever and pheromones. Her body being weaker and exerting more energy then it usually does, doesn’t change. She takes an abnormally large dosage, even compared to other destined omegas, we are lucky that she had it arranged for me to live on the same floor as her.”

“Why did she do that? I thought you two hated each other? Couldn’t Ash of helped her instead of you?”

Libryinth and Ash looked at each other before Libryinth answered me, “Umm… in this state Lil doesn’t trust very many people. And we don’t really hate each other, we love each other cause we are twins… she just dislikes me because of my past and present mistakes. I have a bad tendency to let my friends change my behavior. Lil knows this, and she knows how to ‘change me back’ as she says, so I tend to seek her out so she goes though a lot of shit cause of me. And I’ve been trying to change but fuck its hard. She can also be so cold to me… she’s nicer to our pets then she is to me sometimes.”

“So if my understanding is correct… you don’t hate Lil you just let her do as she wishes?”

“Yep! That’s it.” His smile faded into a slight frown, “I was a really horrible brother back at PVT I let others influence me to much and treated her like shit. Now I look back and am just ashamed of myself… I should’ve been protecting her, been the hero brother I always was. But I turned into a villain, and hurt her instead. I wouldn’t blame her if she never forgives me, I don’t deserve her.” I looked over to where Ash was and he left, so I had no back up what so ever, “Ya know Juniper,” He was smiling at me, looking me straight in the eye, “I’m thankful that Lil found you! You remind me of myself back when Lil and I were little kids. She use to be so shy, she barely talked to anyone other than me. I think you and I are gonna be good friends, I mean Lil already sees you as a brother so you’re a brother to me as well.”

“I’m thankful for finding Lil too, she reminds me so much of my little sister. But thats a whole different story, Lil’s even about the right age.” I smiled, Lil and Libtyinth looked so similar to them I couldn’t believe it.

“Lil told me you had one older brother and three little sister, how’s she about the right age? When were you born?” Libryinth looked so interested and happy.

“Oh umm, well yeah I have an older half-brother and three younger half-sisters, my mom isn’t my biological mom. And before my mom and dad got back together my biological mom gave birth to twins about 9 or 10 months after I was born. I only knew them a couple years before they went missing. But she looks a lot how I remember my sister looking. Its what made me so protective of her originally. And I was born in January”

“I’m so sorry about that… I can’t imagine losing Lil…” Libryinth is surprising easy to open up to, “Listen Juniper, Lil probably told you her and I are adopted. I just wanted to tell you that you can come to me or Lil about this stuff, we can understand it in a similar light. Lil and I were born in September so we do fit into that bracket and umm this is kinda weird… but if you want to look at us as your siblings thats fine with us. Lil already talks about you like you’re her brother. So… yeah…”

“Thanks Libryinth, that means a lot to me, I’ll protect her as best as I can!” I was so happy, I was on cloud nine.

“Of course, no biggie, and stop calling me Libryinth, to formal, its Lib to family and friends.” He smiled at me and we both started laughing our asses off.

I guess Lib isn’t that bad of a guy, he’s actually a really caring brother and knows when he is in the wrong. And although I don’t know any of his actions from before I met him, he feels guilt and shame for them. I’m starting to understand their relationship little by little. When they are in danger from anything that’s not the other twin, they rush to their side and help them in any and all means possible. I have a feeling that if Lib was about to get hurt out in the field, Lil would do anything to get to him and help him out. I hope their day to day relationship will get better though, I hope that I can help them.
