A few days had passed since the Immolationer's Tribunal and King Charon had called for a round table between the royal family, the dukes of the kingdom, and any other powerful allies in order to discuss what to do about the exiled invaders across the wall.
The room it was to be held in was a great hall set in the castle. Several columns dotted the outer ring of the hall and upon each column rested a great lantern. The inner ring was composed of a house sigil of the McCarthy family, which was a great fire held in an orb with an inscription reading "An honorable society pays its dues in full". This saying dated back to the first King who built the Kingdom of the Left with the purpose of instilling a haven for those wanting to live a simple life bereft of theft and murder. And has long since been upheld by the citizens of the Left and their King's Idol.
The first to enter the hall apart from the King who had called the meeting was Guy Montag and the three princes.
Fresh on Guy's mind was the room he had witnessed below the Hall of Fathers, having never witnessed the anomaly before. In truth, this room had been hidden away from all viewers since long ago and was meant for the return of a man who had helped the Kingdom in its time of need. The room itself was mundane and could have been confused for any hobbled workspace throughout the Kingdom, but what made the room special was its contents. Two giant scrolls adorned the wall, and although they had looked exactly the same, the feeling they emitted seemed as if they were two polar opposites. The scroll on the left felt like a brilliant white, a sheening white, a white too bright to look at, yet too lovely to look away. While the scroll on the right felt like a gaping black, the maw of the abyss, an eternity of solitude, so dark that there was a fear of looking into it, but the fear of looking away was far greater. Guy had thought it felt right to call them Neshamah, but it didn't feel quite right. There was an inexplicable nature to them that Guy couldn't come up with, and each felt too wholly different from one another to say they were the same. What felt like an eternity had transpired there had in reality been only a few seconds, the Swordshaper had taken a look, noticed nothing was wrong with the room and had shut the doors taking his leave. It wouldn't be until a few hours later that Guy would follow suit.
Following Guy and the princes were the most powerful of the dukes in the Kingdom. Each shared the name McCarthy and had at one point been princes of the land. The most powerful of which was King Charon's eldest brother Ciacco, who held an iron fist over much of the Kingdom's merchants. Following him was King Charon's youngest brother Virgil, who's sphere of influence surpassed just the Kingdom of the Left and held a network of spies throughout the realm. Apart from the two most notable brothers to King Charon were three others Thomas, James, and William who often worked together to vie against the powers of the other two.
Next, behind the dukes came another special guest who was introduced by Virgil as Gin, Swordshaper, the One True Blacksmith.
