Looks like we got another spoiled rich kid to join the flock of airheads already over populating this cesspool.”
Dmitri looked up from his phone to glance at the direction his friend was giving an intense glare of disgust.
He instantly picked up the rich people vibes from just the car alone. It was new, sleek, black, and of course expensive.
The car was parked nearby the edge of the courtyard for awhile before a tall slender man left the driver’s side. He was dressed in a standard black business suit with a thick wool coat layered on top to shield him from the cold.
The man smoothly opened the passenger door, helping a second person out with a open hand.
Dmitri forced himself to blink as he took in the second new face.
“What the hell?” His friend’s voice sounded just how he felt.
The boy, and Dmitri could only really loosely use that definition, was inhuman in appearance. He slid out of the car with grace and poise that he never thought to see in real life. It was the shit you saw in movies. Fuck, he didn’t even think coming out of a car could be graceful.
The stranger was obviously foreign. His face was too soft and round to ever be a native of Russia and he was short. Extremely so. However the male’s lean frame somehow made it work.
The strange couple began walking through the courtyard at a leisurely pace. The suited man glanced at every thing that moved, his eyes were sharp and uncaring as they analysed everything around them. His hands were in his pockets, but somehow despite the relaxed postured Dmitri knew that man was ready for action in a second’s notice.
Dmitri was too familiar with those kind of eyes. They came from someone who had experienced some of humanity’s worst evils. The man was more than just a driver then. Most likely a trained ex military man turned guard after retirement.
“Dude, what’s with his hair though? Is he trying to stand out or something?”
He shrugged a little. He hadn't gotten that far in his search. The strange boy only grew in oddity as he approached his small group of friends. He now could see why Yuri was startled and confused
That hair was a bright silver. Not grey or platinum, but straight up shiny silver. Even in the overcast snowy weather, the strands reflected any kind of light that touched them. Coupled with the how his hair was pulled into an loose bun on top of his head with single side braid wrapped around it, he was basically an elf. They had a fictional elf walking in the middle of the courtyard. He chuckled at the idea.
“Maybe he really likes Lord of the Rings cosplay?”
Yuri busted laughing from Dmitri’s quick reply. “Fucking hell. That’s too funny.” Yuri had to lean against his friend as he tried in vain to catch his breath. “A pompous rich elf. That’s what exactly we need around here.”
Dmitri suddenly found himself staring into a pair of memorising orbs. The vibrant green-blue felt like they could see into his soul. Dimtri felt his heart thump hard in his rib cage. The owner of said eyes finally let his lips twitch into a tiny knowing smile.
Another thud from his chest. What the fuck?! Why is his body reacting so violently to a stranger?
“Hello. My name is Aibek. It’s pleasure to meet you. I’m not sure what an elf is, but it sounds like a compliment, thank you.”
Yuri stiffened beside him and the rest of his friend’s chatter came to a halt. Aibek. What a strange name. Sounded like an elf name too.
His accent was neutral and the words were too formal, but the tenor was pleasant and alluring. It was easy to tell he didn’t learn russian from a native speaker and more than likely it from books or online.
Aibek’s colourful eyes shifted from Dmitri to Yuri to the others in the group before settling back to Dmitri. “I’m new to this country, so I apologise if I did something to offend you or your culture.”
He didn’t even wait for a reply before he said something short in a foreign tongue to his guard, bowed his head slightly to Dimitri and his group, and disappeared into the building.
“That was...weird.”
Dimitri grunted in automatic reply, his mind busy trying to figure out exactly who this new person was while also trying to get his heart to stop beating like a drum.
Yuri gave his friend a puzzled glance. “You have your getting-into-trouble face on. What are you thinking?”
Dimitri grinned. “I’m going to follow Aibek and learn what’s so interesting about him.”
“Are you smitten already?”
Dimtri choked on air. “Are you stupid? No. Of course not. Never.”
His friend snickered into his hand. “You protest too much there.”
“I will kill you, you annoying brat.”
Following Aibek was easier said than done. He couldn't find a single trace of the guy.. How does someone like him just vanish. He at least expected to hear people in the hallways to be talking.
He glanced at his watch. Damn. His first class was going to start soon. He was going to have put his search on hold for now.
Luckily enough, he was already in the history/culture department. His modern world history class was one of the largest classes offered, being set up in a round lecture hall housing maybe eighty to a hundred students. It was easy to sit in the back and daydream into sweet abyss. The class was just as dull and life sucking as it was the week before. The two hour monologue was a test of will power for him not to pass out on his desk.
He hardly noticed when it was over and he was absentmindedly walking out. A powerful shudder suddenly made him lose his train of thought and apparently his sense of direction as he immediately face planted into the doorway.
"Damn, that hurt." His forehead throbbing in pain as he rubbed it with his hand.
"Are you alright?"
"Do I look-" Dmitri froze his snappy comment as he found himself starring into bright green-blue irises. "Oh fuck me." He thought to himself.
