Part 1: Cooper
Why are all the buildings so far apart? I thought as I ran to the science block of Westriver high school.
“Cooper, you’re late.” Ms Roseman sighed as I entered. “Again.”
I shrugged her off and sat down with my two best friends: Justin, a tall boy with black skin, black hair, and brown eyes; and Nick, a medium-sized boy with sandy blonde hair and orangey-blue eyes and a brain large enough to solve a murder, apparently (him and his friende Peggy solved the murder of Ms Tesseford of few months back). Together, we are the amazing prankster trio. We’ve been caught, multiple times, so we’re not mysterious. To my suprise, a large stack of papers was dropped onto my desk. I looked up from the papers into the brown eyes of a brown-skinned girl with bright aqua hair.
“Thanks Jasmine.” I practically spat at her.
“Awww, thanking me are you Cooper? Nick, you must’ve talked some sense into him.” she replied.
“Go away.” I mumbled.
She walked away with a flicked of her annoying aqua hair. Nick and Justin stared at me.
“Geez,” Nick said, in a state of mild shock. Justin nodded slowly. The reason for their surprise was that was the first time me and Jasmine had spoken since the beginning of the term. “Wow.” Peggy interrupted, her blonde hair blocking Jasmine’s death glare. “Getting soft, are you Cooper? No Nick, the answer to number 3 is C.”
“N-no!” I stammered. “I am not getting soft! You're getting soft.”
“Cheers Peggy.” Nick replied.
Peggy nodded and returned to her seat. I stared out the window thinking about a new prank, while Ms Roseman babbled on about diffusion.
“Cooper? Are you listening?” Ms Roseman asked. All eyes were on me. I snapped out of my creative trance and tried to remember what she had said.
“Ummm… oxygen?” I replied.
She shook her head in a mixture of disgust and disappointment. “Cooper, see me after class.”
I sighed. Another detention. My parents were going to be furious.
The rest of the lesson dragged on until the bell rang for lunch. I tried my best to escape, but Ms called me before I had a chance to run. Jasmine stuck her tongue out at me through the window. I sneered back at her.
“Please sit, Cooper.” Ms Roseman gestured to the seat in front of her desk. I winced, ready for the punishment to come...
