Irene departs for her journey and life returns to normal. Time seems to pass pleasantly after the completion of the "Plan". Until some unexpected events crush Scott's delusions that he's got a leg up on life.
I love how when the waiter says he's sorry Irene has left, Scott answers "No need to be". It shows how secure he is in himself but also that he loved her enough to be happy for her.
All of us change, more or less, during puberty. But what happens
when you grow gills and a mermaid tail? Or when the weird kid from your class, finds out and decides to
devise a bizarre plan to help you live in the sea and find your pod? If there is such a thing! And travelling with sea turtles on the way, no less?!
