Winter comes but once a year
When sharp wind grazes skin
Like a blade.
Deep sorrow drapes the stagnant sky
Freezing tears to snow.
The Heavens weep,
Tears frozen in time
For the Earth is dead
Sorrow
Darkness
Sobbing
But eyes run dry of tears from the skies
Replaced by spreading smiles in the soil
When life fractures the barrenness
Watered with merry tears
Before all comes alive once more.
They hope spring is eternal
So they dance in the sun
But fear has rooted deep within
Since nothing is forever.
Time drifts aimlessly by
Until the day when anon,
Cold claws grip
The Earth again.
