Alvin refused to put me down as he continued running until we were outside of the museum which left me confused as to where we were going until he set me down on a bench in front of the museum's garden.
“Alvin shouldn't we be heading back to the others?”
“The dance doesn't end for another 5 hours, and besides I can tell from how red your eyes are that you don't need to be around any of those stuck up jerks.” Alvin looped his arm around me as we looked at the fireflies glow in the night. “So be honest with me are you ok?”
Even though all of this still scared me I figured it would be pretty stupid to leave my friends out of loop when they were just as involved. With as sigh I rested my head on his shoulder and told him everything that Cindy had told me including the conversation I had with CJ.
Alvin looked down at me surprised as I finished the story and then his face washed with concern.
“I know it's a lot and I’m sorry for dragging you all into this. I didn't want any of you to worry or ask questions I didn't have the answer to. This guy has some crazy agenda for me and his kids won't hesitate to kill whomever they have to in order to make that happen and i didnt want you guys to hate me since your in danger because of me especially because I really like you so if you hated me that would've been even worse and-”
Alvin's hand quickly found its way over my mouth before I could continue in my rant which is what I was honestly thankful for since I couldn't stop myself.
“Jaden I don't blame you for any of this. I’m upset because I wish I could do something to help you.”
Relief washed over me the minute the words left his mouth. His hand reached up to gently brush the tears off the side of my face that I hadn't even realized I’d shed.
“Well I’m glad you're not mad at me specifically, but that doesn't change the fact that we're in a bit of a sticky situation.” I sigh as Alvin rests his head on top of mine.
“Well if I had to guess… all we can really focus on right now is getting stronger. These guys seem pretty trigger happy so we should expect a fight whether we do what they say or not.”
“Even then where would we all practice using our gifts? My power is too destructive.” I asked as Alvin took a few minutes to think before gasping loudly and getting up to his feet.
“I might know a place, but right now that's not important.” Alvin turned back around to me and held out his hand. “I know just the place to take you that's sure to cheer you up… that is if you're up for it.”
I didn't hesitate to take his hand since my only other option was to enter the party, and I was in no rush to head back into the party. Alvin picked me up once again bridal style as he placed his hand behind my neck. “This is the farthest I’ve ever had to run so hold on tight.”
I quickly obliged as I wrapped my arms around his neck and felt him tense slightly under my touch.
In an instant he took off and I was certain my ears were gonna pop from how fast we were moving. I was suddenly very grateful his hand had been supporting my neck otherwise I would have definitely had whiplash from the sudden speed.
Once we finally came to a stop I surveyed our surroundings and saw that we were now under a dock at a beach as the smell of the sea filled my nose. The sun had already set so if it hadn't been for the lights coming from the dock I wouldn't have been able to see a thing as I watched the waves crash against the sand. Alvin carefully set me down on the ground before letting out a long sigh.
“Welcome to Tybee island.”
“Wow this beach looks beautiful…. Wait did you say Tybee Island!?” I exclaimed as the grin on Alvin's face grew wider. “ That's all the way in Savannah! That was four hours away from where we were!”
“I know. Pretty awesome right?”
I stared at him in disbelief as he continued to smile down at me. Of course I thought it was amazing that we had traveled over 4 hours in 10 minutes, but I had never realized just how fast Alvin could run in such a short period of time.
“Ok I gotta admit this is amazing.Do you come to the beach often?” I asked as we walked down to the water as he took my hand in his.
“Only when I need to clear my head… or spend some alone time with my date.” He said with a smile while the smirk on my face grew.
“So what you're saying is you wanted to get me somewhere that no one could disturb us?”
“Yes… wait-Jaden!” I laughed as Alvin started to blush before playfully shoving me closer to the water.
Once we got to the edge of the water I took my shoes off and immediately walked in and was met with a rush of cold water. I rubbed my hands together and watched as an orange glow erupted from them. Even though I couldn't make any flames I could still make my hands hot which I appreciated as the water around me got warm fairly quickly. Once the water had reached my waist I turned around to see that Alvin was no longer on the beach but I didn't see him anywhere in the water either.
I was about to call his name when I was suddenly hoisted up and tossed into the water. I didn't stay under long as I willed the water to push me back up to the surface, but I quickly gasped for air since I hadn't had the time to take a breath before going under.
Looked back at Alvin who was still laughing as I spit out the seawater.
“I bet you think you were really cute for that.” I laughed as I pulled the water out of my face.
“Your right I’m feeling pretty gorgeous right now.” He smirked as he swam closer to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. With a mischievous glint in my eyes I pulled him closer by the front of his shirt and gave him a quick kiss leaving him momentarily speechless.
Then I left him completely speechless when I leaned my head to the left as I sent a strong jet of water straight towards his face. I laughed as he spit out the water and held me in place so I couldn't get away.”Let's call this a draw.” He sighed as I laughed against his chest before pulling him into a deeper kiss.
He held me even closer as my hands started to roam through his hair.I felt goosebumps travel through my body as his tongue moved past my lips. Once our lips parted, we were both breathing heavily as both of our faces were completely red.
We just stared at each other, the both of us at a complete loss for words, but the grins still plastered to our faces. We probably would've stood there even longer had it not been for the large wave that crashed into us, knocking us both back into reality.
Once we both surfaced I blinked the water out of my eyes a few times before bursting out into a fit of giggles that Alvin soon joined me in. At that moment, I didn't care about the danger that was soon to come, because all I knew was that I was extremely happy right now.

We eventually returned back to the party with about 2 hours left to spare before it was due to end which was just fine by me. While our clothes had been previously soaked with a combination of my gifts and Alvins, we got dry relatively quickly.
As we made our way to the aquarium exhibit, where are friends and the Terran party were being held, I noted that the area had been set up almost exactly as the section left for the others downstairs was set up, making it all the more stupid that they chose to separate themselves.
The only thing that had caught me by surprise was the fact that everyone was using their powers openly. There were students floating above the party, some were in the fish tank, I even saw a girl pit-pocketing people as she walked through them.
I stood in awe as I saw my peers use their gifts when Alvin suddenly yelped while holding his side. Before I could ask what happened, Satoya reappeared in front of us unable to hold in her laughter as Alvin glared at her for pinching him.
“What the hell was that for?” Alvin asked as Satoya punched him in the shoulder for good measure, making me laugh even harder.
“That was for not bringing Jaden back the minute you found him.” She crossed her arms with a smirk. “ Wanna tell me why you two were gone for so long?”
I could feel my face grow warm as Alvin pulled me closer by my waist with a grin. “Jaden you are so lucky you can't get pregnant.I hope you too had fun.” Satoya shook her head with a laugh as we followed her to where the others were.
Once we reached the table that the others were sittin at, they all gave me a knowing look causing me to look away while Alvin looked all too pleased with himself. Alexis high fived him while Mariah scooted closer to me with a smirk.
“So did you rock his world?” she whispered to me as I clamped my hand over my mouth to keep myself from laughing to loud. “For your information we didn't do anything like that…. I mean we kissed a lot… then some more…. And then even more after that.”
My voice trailed off as I recounted to myself the extremely intense make-out session that followed us getting out of the water. Thinking of the way Alvin had left such quick kisses against my neck and jawline had left me feeling so warm that I hadn't even realized my head was on fire until people around us started staring at me.
My friends and I all shared in laughter until a immense purple glow filled the entire room prompting silence. As we all looked up we saw Cindy's glow dissipating as Mr. Jameson walked up to the microphone.
“I hope you all have enjoyed this year's homecoming!”
The crowd erupted in applause as my friends and I all rolled our eyes in annoyance. I froze as Jameson's eyes found mine in the crowd. His smile grew wider as he continued to speak.
“Unfortunately we're gonna have to end the dance a little early..” He was interrupted by the crowd's protest but they quickly silenced themselves as he raised his hand demanding silence. “I know you're all upset but unfortunately we had someone roaming around where they shouldn't have so for everyone's safety we'll be sending you home promptly.”
I knew he was talking about CJ and I found myself hoping that he hadn't gotten into much trouble for keeping an eye on his son. Before my thoughts could continue to roam Jameson continued his speech.
“Now before we all disperse for the night I have a few announcements for those of us who are new. As most of us know, our annual field day is coming up, and for those confused this is a time when any and everyone can participate for a chance to earn a spot in the top ten.” Jameson gestured to his 10 prodigies behind him and I couldn't help but scoff. It was so obvious that no one would be able to take the spot from them that it was almost laughable.
“Anyone can sign up if they wish, but as we all know all new students are required to participate. Now this isn't meant to be any insult to your character, but rather a chance to show off your strength, and who knows maybe one of you will end up standing behind me.”
Jamseon hadn't broken eye contact with me since he finished his speech which I found unnerving. Nonetheless I held his gaze silently challenging him to bring his worse.
“Our field day will start the week before christmas break. I wish you all the best of luck.”
With that he disappeared within Tristan's darkness and everyone began to quickly disperse for the night. As I looked at my friends I could see the concerned looks on all of their faces. We were all being forced to walk into a fight we knew we couldn't win, and we only had a month to even try to get ready for it.
The look on Jameson's face had made it clear where I stood… I either participate and earn a spot in the top 10 or things are only gonna get worse for me… great.

On the ride home it didn't take much convincing for me to tell the others what kind of situation we were all in, and while I expected a negative reaction I had received the exact opposite. Of course they were all upset to learn we were in danger, but none of them blamed me for it.
If anything they were all pissed that this guy was threatening me. We all wanted to discuss this more but as the night grew longer, we only got even more tired as Mariah dropped everyone off.
I stumbled up my driveway after giving Alvin a kiss goodnight and wishing the others goodnight, but before I could open the door, it swung open as my mom ran out and pulled me into a hug.I could barely get a get a word in as she bombarded me with questions like if I was ok or if I had been hurt.
I was entirely confused as I didn't recall telling her any of the events that happened tonight, and I was even more confused as I looked into the room and saw that CJ was sitting on my couch with my sister sitting in his lap.
“Mom pardon my language, but what in the entire fuck is going on right now?”
My mom looked up at me with tears in her eyes before looking back at me and my sister.
“I’m so sorry… but I haven't been completely honest with you two.”
