The Teamaker

An unexpected guest

May 23, 2020

The fire started to slowly die down. Alej grabbed a few branches and threw them in. They where far up north and even though it was summer, there was snow all year around and the nights where still especially chilly. It was quiet, only his sisters snoring disturbed the silence of the night, even their ox Olf, wasn't as loud. Alej chuckled at the thought and looked up into the sky. It was a clear night and the entire sky was covered with stars. Thinking back to the story earlier, he wondered how the dragons must have felt, soaring through the sky, without a care in the world, just the endless freedom of the sky, until Arajas basically plucked their wings off.

Alej woke up with a joint when he heard a branch crack nearby. Bandits? Wolves? He jumped up and looked around, a dagger in one hand, a bright little flame in the other. But it was neither bandit nor wolves, but instead a young woman, stumbling into the clearing and collapsing to his feet. Alej ceased his flame and put away his dagger, before dragging the woman to the fire.

The flame died down a bit again from his short nap, he grabbed some new branches and threw them in. As the flames started to burn brighter again, Alej managed to get a closer look at the mysterious woman her face was pale, her skin covered in little swollen cuts and she was ice cold. While inspecting her, Alej glanced over her ears and a slight shiver went down his spine. Long, pointy ears..."An Elf!" he thought. Elves where fairly rare on Falsgaard to begin with, but this far north? Suddenly the woman started to shiver. Alej placed his hand on her forehead "A fever? And the wounds look like Firefang Spider bites. Just what did you go through?" Alej stood up and walked towards his carriage, grabbed a little sickle from a pouch hanging off the side, containing his few personal belongings and jumped onto the carriage. the entire carriage was filled with dirt and all kinds of herbs grew all over the place. While he pretends to be "Just a humble teamaker" as he puts it whenever some noisy guard starts to ask questions, herbs have been used as medicine, long before humans discovered magic "Well, guess that's a job for me" he said with a chuckle, and started harvesting some Herbs.
