Part 2: Jasmine
We walked towards our usual spot outside. Bridget was nattering on about something and Sara was pretending to be interested. I nodded along as we all dropped our bags onto the floor.
“Ew!” moaned Bridget. “I’ve dropped my bag in someone’s jelly!”
Sara sniggered. I pulled some tissues out of my bag and handed them to Bridget. She smiled and thanked me. While she was cleaning up her bag, Sara turned to me.
“So, how did you find that insanely boring science lesson?” she asked.
“You really need to change your opinion about lessons or you will never pass your exams.” I replied. She shrugged me off.
“Remind me to smile then.” Sara replied sarcastically. I smiled. Bridget had vanished, until I realised that she was talking to Anna Rosette, one of Bridget’s many connections. Bridget knows everything about everyone. If everyone had a destiny: Bridget’s would be being the Gossip queen. It’s just who she is. She slowly walked back towards us.
“Hey did you guys know that-” she began.
“Don’t want to know.” I replied without thinking. Sara nodded in agreement.
“Right, I’m getting food.” Sara announced, and we all followed her to the lunch queue.
We talked about how Bridget needs to keep her nose out of other peoples’ business again when we all heard a strange laugh. Sara turned and I could tell by the glare she gave them that it was Cooper, Nick and Justin.
“Geez, you looked like you wanted to kill them,” I told Sara.
“And maybe I do,” she replied.
Bridget and I shared a look of concern and then we were pushed and shoved into the lunch hall. I ordered a cookie and a salad; Bridget ordered some pasta and an apple juice; and Sara ordered a BBQ chicken wings, a chocolate milk and a flapjack.
“That was delicious,” Sara exclaimed once she had finished.
“Indeed,” I agreed.
Bridget had walked off again, talking to some girls who looked like that had had several plastic surgery operations. Sara stared at her from across the grounds.
“She really needs to sort herself out.” Sara said, with a strangely helpful tone of voice.
I nodded and we started to talk about the latest episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, when the bell rang for the last period of the day: art.
