“Yeah, I noticed in class… He’s something, huh.”
Caiden simply nodded at her words, because he didn’t know what to think of his roommate. His name was Shiki, and he was straightforward and… Mean wasn’t the right word, but maybe cold. He could say exactly what was on his mind and didn’t care if anyone got offended by it.
“I bet his parents are rude, or don’t care about him”, he said.
“Yeah, sure, because every mean kid have rude parents.”
“I didn’t say he was mean.”
Caiden sighed, and paid for the shirt and gave the cashier a “thank you” when she gave him the bag. He turned to Pauline and gave her a serious look before she could say anything more. He honestly didn’t care what his roommates parents was like, but she was right. Not every mean person had bad parents, but he still didn’t think his roommate actually was mean. Just damn hard to get to know and like.
They returned to the school dorm, and he went up to his room to change clothes, from the school uniform to something he liked more. A pair of black ripped skinny jeans and the green shirt. As his roommate was nowhere to be found, Caiden had put on some music. Swing Life Away by Rise Against was playing in the background. He put some eyeliner around his green eyes and gave himself one last look in the mirror. His hair was dyed in a silverish grey color and cut short. Pauline had been right, the shirt matched his eyes.
A knock on the door made him rush over to open, and he greeted Pauline with a smile. She too had changed clothes, and was now wearing some black and white striped pantyhose, a pink tulle skirt and black top.
“Are you ready to go?” she asked.
The class was going out for pizza and hanging out, as a way for the new students to get to know the rest of the class. The new ones were just him and Pauline.
He nodded at her. “Yeah.”
She simply shook her head, and stepped into the room. Caiden raised an eyebrow as he followed her with his gaze, while she walked over to his things. She started with checking in his wardrobe, but turned to look at him.
“Where are you hiding it? I know you took it with you!”
Caiden didn’t even need to ask her what she was searching for, and only nodded to the wardrobe, as it was actually in there. He only smiled as she returned to find it. Soon enough she pulled out a box which had been hidden under his clothes, and she opened it to take out a tiara. From the look of it, one could tell it was an old thing made of silver and small diamonds. Well, he wasn’t sure it actually was real diamonds, but it didn’t matter. Pauline walked right over to him and put it on his head with a bright smile.
