Joseph sat under forbidden candlelight as he and Ellie quietly read together. He treasured the small moments like these. They were small glimpses of freedom and tonight, they were reading a forbidden book. It was about Whisp.

Whisp, the city that everyone said did not exist. The city of freedom. In Whisp, Ellie could read without getting killed for it. Joseph could be kind without being bullied for it. He knew in his heart, that Whisp must exist. Surely the rest of the world wasn’t as bad as Glenwatch..

In this horrid city, the lives of four children connect, each hoping to escape Glenwatch and reach the fabled city of Whisp, where men and women are equal and everyone is free to do as they like.

For Haytham, it’s a chance to have grand adventures and to protect his friends. For all three it is a chance to escape the Glenwatch orphanage together. But time is running out with adoption day rapidly approaching for the older children. The arrival of Sienna, captured from a border nation and enslaved in Glenwatch, provides an opportunity to escape. But can they make it out?
