In the Sound Kingdom, people regard the person known as Rhys as a playboy. Those aren't just rumors, they are right. Whether or not it's married women, he would continue chasing after the women as long as they express their interest. But no matter how many women he chased after, he's never met the one person he could give his heart too. Rhys was a helpless romantic; contrary to his looks he believed that one day he would meet that one special person. As corny and cheesy as that sounds, he genuinely thought that way. But the reason why he chased after women like flies has nothing to do with his hope to find somebody special.
For as long as Rhys could remember he never had a mother and yet one day when he was around ten years old. He was loitering around the bar areas and met someone who strangely resembled him. For the next few months, he kept on meeting that person and became strangely attached. Several men always surrounded this woman, but despite this Rhys recalled her treating one person as special.
When the woman disappeared one day, the man approached him and told him the truth. The woman was his mother, and though she didn't realize it at first. When she did, she wanted to make amends but realized it was too late. Rhys didn't know what to think of that story. All Rhys understood was that he would no longer see her anymore.
Maybe it was due to the trauma of the same woman - his own mother leaving him twice, but Rhys has never settled down in a relationship before. Unlike Kazuya, Rhys has been in many relationships. He has experience with many women. But there are certain types of women he tends to avoid.
The second Princess Of The Mist Kingdom, Lyn fit the criteria of women he avoided.
When Kazuya changed the plan - Rhys was against it. He didn't want to be left alone with the Princess at all. There's a reason why Kazuya has become attached, and Rhys wanted to detach himself from that. It would be wrong if he became attached too. Contrary to what it seemed, Rhys was a smart guy. He can quickly tell a person's personality. That's why he didn't want to be left alone with Princess Lyn. From a distance, and from hearing the girl's background story. Rhys already knew she wasn't a bad person.
But he wanted to continue with the mindset that all royals are corrupt. Only an hour or so has passed since Kazuya left this one with him, but Rhys felt his heart swaying.
Lyn laughed, "Aha, the water is cold."
The two of them were outside in the inner courtyard. Many of the guests were inside, that's the reason why the Princess suggested they go out. A hidden existence, huh? When the Elders of the Sound Kingdom informed him of the girl's existence. It surprised him but at the same time he thought, so there's somebody else like him.
Rhys looked at the girl playing with the water with an uncomfortable expression on his face.
"What?"
Lyn looked at him, "Say, can I ask you a few questions?"
Rhys raised his eyebrows sensing her seriousness, "About?"
"Kazuya."
Well, of course, she would ask. Rhys sighed, "Sadly I can't give away too much personal information, it's
"Um, it's just a simple one," The Princess demeanor changed and he watched as she played with the hem of her skirt. A nervous look on her face, "Is he used to girls?"
Huh? Rhys stared at her dumbfounded for a few minutes and watched as her cheeks turned red.
"That is um; he's good at kissing and saying sweet words. My aide tells me that's a sign for a dangerous guy," Lyn trailed off as she looked away.
Kiss?
Kazuya didn't mention that. The two have gotten that far already? No from the looks of things, nothing romantic has happened. But, she's asking this because she's interested right? He should exploit this chance, Rhys shook his head. He can't rush things; he ought to watch over the situation carefully and then guide them if need be.
A deep sigh escaped his lips as he ran his hand through his hair; he's not good at things like this. Usually, he is the one doing the seducing.
Noticing the Princess expression still on his, Rhys said, "Kazuya has zero experience with girls. Rather, he doesn't hang out with them at all back home," Rhys trailed off recalling something. Whenever Rhys invited Kazuya out to a gathering and tricked him, Kazuya would disappear before the night has started. Rhys could guess why he avoids women like the plague. But that's a story Kazuya can tell the Princess.
The expression on the Princess face turns bright, and for a split second Rhys is mesmerized by that look on her face. Only for a second, he catches a glimpse of the girl's leg. There was blood trickling down. He frowned, "Did you scrape your leg on the rock before I caught you?"
"Eh?"
"Look down."
Lyn looked down at her legs and exclaimed loudly, "Wah? Did I get hurt? Eh? But I didn't notice the pain," she looked at the injury with confusion in her eyes.
She didn't notice? With an injury that large? Rhys sighed deeply, "Do you know healing magic or something?"
Lyn paused and then shook her head.
That pause just now, does that mean she has it? Rhys said it casually, but even he understood that the existence of healing magic is unheard of. This woman doesn't know that information. However, Rhys thought if he brought it up, she would slip up unknowingly. But it seems like they at least trained her regarding this matter.
This one is intriguing; how much does this woman know? How much of a mask is she wearing? Rhys can assess that Princess Lyn is a good person. But this one isn't completely as clueless as they all think. It's better to keep his guard around her, "Sit down."
"Eh?" Lyn said puzzled.
"I'll administer first aid. You don't know how to right?"
Lyn slowly nodded, she seemed surprised before light laughter escaped her lips, "Thank you, your very kind."
Kind? He only offered and how can she say for sure that he isn't going to poison her? Rhys sighed again, don't think about it too deeply.
.....
On his way there, Rhys caught a glimpse of the Princess still in the same spot. Perched on the fountain, but unlike before she was singing happily. Rhys stood and watched for a moment; she was no expert singer. But her voice was pleasant to listen to, and there was something soothing about it. An unusual person, one would think with her isolated lifestyle, it wouldn't be possible for her to smile. Yet here she is smiling happily every day and even singing.
He needs to stop thinking in such depth regarding her actions; that's how people become attached. Rhys walked down the hallway and stepped out into the steps leading to outside.
Lyn beamed happily as she greeted him, "Ah, welcome back!"
"Yeah," Rhys nodded. He was never much of a talker, at least when he's on the job. Whenever Rhys spoke to girls too, he would say empty words of flattery before getting into bed with them. This Princess is the first one who he hasn't done anything with despite it being two hours since he was last left alone with her.
Maybe he does feel some form of attachment to her. After all, initially he was the one who was meant to seduce her.
