A hellish looking fire began to wisp off the boy's hands and arms, eventually spreading further to encompass a large portion of the cave, even melting the stone it had touched. Guy had acted immediately, by flinging himself in the air and using his flames as jets to remain afloat. While the flames themselves were incredibly powerful, they were small, sparse, and uncontrollable as to where they were sent. As an attack, it would be almost useless against any opponent worth their salt. However, it could find use as a distraction, thought Guy.
"Good Cormac, let's ease out of this. Come back now."
Despite Guy's beckoning, Cormac seemed unfazed. He began to fall further and further into his trance and the voice he heard began to drift further and further away. Even the beautiful lights given off by the Neshamah surrounding the area dimmed until Cormac had been completely surrounded by darkness and the deafening silence.
Feeling an immense dread, Cormac opened his eyes. But rather than seeing the dimly lit cave and his teacher Guy, all Cormac could see was a deep black, and all he could feel was the radiation of heat behind him. A slight reverberation began to fill the dark void, emanating behind the boy, growing louder and louder with each iteration.
Turning around, Cormac gasped aloud. A large sun, about 10 meters in diameter, spitting off small sun flares floated in front of him now, shrinking slightly than returning to its normal size before shrinking again. As if in a dream, Cormac opened his eyes once again, releasing himself from the dark void. The sun remained, however, now floating midway between himself and Guy.
"Amazing," Guy's voice trailed as the sun began to break away and disappear, leaving Cormac fatigued and laid out on the now dry floor.
Guy released his flames and ran up to the prince.
"You did it Cormac! You broke threw!"
Despite the absolute joy of his teacher, Cormac could do nothing but continue laying upon the floor. He had exhausted his pool of Neshamah by summoning the sun-like power, leaving him entirely immobile and fatigued. Scooping up the boy, Guy began carrying him out of the cave. Though he did not get far before being stopped by a small stone golem holding two envelopes with both his and Cormac's name written on them.
The golem itself was inconspicuous. It was hard to call it lifelike, despite following the geometry of what could be called a human. Beyond that, the Neshamah imbued within it was quite small, making it hard to notice despite Guy's intuition. Guy had surmised that depending on the skill level of the user, there could be anywhere from tens to hundreds of these golems roaming around the capital at this point. Throwing Cormac over his shoulder Guy tore open the envelope with his name written on it and began reading it aloud.
"You have been invited to celebrate at a great banquet to be held in 3 days' time to commemorate Virgil's grant to ownership of the crystal pits."
