Chapter:8- Fateful Meeting

Chapter:8- Fateful Meeting

Jun 24, 2020

As I kept staring at the mutated flying dog lion. This made me more sure that I need to build up my strength more. Although I could craft a makeshift crossbow. The only reason I can’t make one is because of no known materials available to me at this moment.

I declare that strength is the way to go. Worst case scenario I just make a torch with a stick I find and some cloth.

So I continue the work out. Even when my body was aching I kept going. Taking breaks as I needed. The sweet liquid coming down by me is keeping me from starving. Filling it up with my glass water bottle while I’m working out was the way to consistently fill my hunger. Although water would be nice...

Within four days, my body finally achieved some muscle. Not a lot but I can swing my blade faster. Unlike the previous slash test, I know for a fact that the difference in speed is noticeable.

Good timing as well. Seeing the liquid drying up it seemed that I can no longer use this as my food source.

Such an unfortunate matter, but I can’t stay here forever. It’s been 2-7 days since I’ve been here. I need to scavenge what I can.

Going from room to room I gathered what seemed to be some plastic board. A broken stall handle. Some nails. And a chipped hammer with only the front end available for smashing.

Putting the stall handle next to the plastic board I crafted a plastic shield, once I hammered nails into it. This will come in handy.

I keep the broken hammer for further uses, as well as the nails.

Finding a carpenter store I obtained a needle as well as more cloth. Finally I can make a proper backpack.

Spending the time to make a backpack was worth the hassle. It allowed me to store everything that I didn’t have the ability to do so. Obviously I put the small items in my backpack. I used the rope and made it into a built to strap in my plastic shield and clothed edge sword.

I think I should be set now.

Leaving the building I finally went outside for the first time in a while. Gathering a few branches I wrapped them all with cloth. Procuring five torches from what cloth I had available with me.

Interestingly only two hours had passed. I should try to reach that tower now. Carefully looking around the area I move and stay hidden every often. Once I know that the area is safe to move, that is.

Weird I am not seeing any creatures lately. All I could find were half eaten corpses, or broken body parts from the aftermath battle.

I didn’t think anything of it, at that time I was already being stalked. I wasn’t aware about it, but all I can say is that it must have been fate that brought me to this person who would change my life.

Almost reaching the tower, I can finally see the entrance. Surveying the surroundings I, ever so slightly advance towards the humongous tower.

However, when I got there many creatures seemed to be waiting inside. As if they were purposefully waiting to ambush something or someone. It’s already getting late, so I lit my first torch.

I can just see numerous numbers of the ape-like creature with horns in the tower.

Once they noticed me due to lighting the torch they started to rush towards me. Not wanting to stick around I see stairs and take the opportunity to climb up.

“Wa-ah!”

I tripped when they tried pulling me in with vine rope that must have come from the vine creatures.

Lighting the vine on fire I jerk my feet to break from the vine. Quickly I move towards the room with the stairs.

Their screeches were incredibly loud and obnoxious, but the situation I was in kicked in my adrenaline blocking the unneeded noise. When I reached the top of the stairs I was again ambushed with plant creatures, luckily I had a torch on me, I swung my torch back and forth. They didn’t move and could only watch me. I take my chance and I move towards the next stairway.

This is weird. They must have been waiting for something. In order to be cooperating with each other. When I got to the top I was met with the open air. Seeing nothing I momentarily took a break.

Amazed by my stamina I take my deserved rest after what happened. The noise seemed to die down. I guess I must have reached the top of the tower miraculously.

Letting my guard down I was struck into the air by one of the flying birds. I struck my torch at the bird and poked its body with the burning torch.

It let go, but now that I’m in the air I can’t seem to survive this fall.

“Aaaaah~” screaming was all I could do.

This is it…I guess my time preparing was for nothing. The last human, easily taken down just like that. It was nice to live for as long as I can. I finally got to talk to someone. Even though they weren’t human.

I couldn’t scream anymore. The altitude is affecting my lungs. Closing my eyes I just gave out a tear. Glad that I would be gone from a horrible place such as this.

Huh? I should be hitting the floor by now. Maybe I’m dead and just don’t know it.

“So this is what death feels like.” I smiled because I didn’t have to experience the excruciating pain of falling.

“Would you prefer to be dead than alive?” A voice called out to me.

This voice sounds so soothing. I replied back, “No, I wished that I were still around.”

“That’s good to know.” There it is again. It’s so soothing.

“A-are you god?” I ask the voice. Mind you my eyes were still shut then.

I heard a giggle. “Yes something like that.”

Then the voice asked me a question, “Do you mind opening your eyes?”

“A-ah...yes I’m sorry god.” Opening my eyes. I had a realization, I am indeed alive.

I was being held like a princess like from those fairy tales. As we descended the woman asked me.

“What are you doing in a place like this?”

I didn’t really have a good answer to this…

“I was told by a creature that I would meet someone here.”

Having an elegant look she replied back, “is that so…”

Still holding onto me she tells me, “Those creatures inside are after me. They must have mistaken you for me. Hang on tight, let's get you somewhere safe so we can continue the conversation.”

I didn’t get a good look at her when she dropped me to the top of a building. She seemed to look human, so the old gorilla must be right.

From there on I saw the lady pull out a weapon. I saw how it could change to many forms. It morphed into a sword, gun, chain with a sickle, and finally a brush? Odd choice of a weapon.

She made strokes like those of an artist. Combating the creatures, while drawing in thin air. This to me defies logic, but she is god so it only makes sense, right?

When she made her final stroke in the air, her drawings came out. They were all bombs of magic.

It was like she was summoning a spell or something.

When the area evaporated she came back to me.

“Whew~! That was pretty fun.” Stretching casually after the fight.

“Ah, indeed goddess. That was an interesting way to fight…” I didn’t know what to call her.

“Anyway, who are you? No, actually. What are you?” She was examining me from top to bottom. Circling around me like a curious scientist.

“Well as you can see, I am a human. Well the last human actually.” Making eye contact with her.

“I see...but weren't the humans all dead?” Puzzled in confusion.

“And yet here I am…hehe...”giving a slight laugh in response.

“What do I call you then human?”

“Uh, well you see I don’t really have a name.”

“Okay? Everything has a name. Surely you must have one.”

“I don’t have one. I guess I thought having one wouldn’t be necessary.”

She then proposes to me what seemed like an opportunity.

“Hey!! Would you like to come along with me? Surely you don’t have anywhere to go.”

“Sure. Where to?”

pewshuu~

Opening a portal she says to me, “To the land of the gods.”

“Human, I am amazed you have made it so far. You may call me Selyne. While we travel back let’s have a chat…”

Covering her nose. “ also you stink, you really need to take a bath.”

Rubbing the back of my head I gave an embarrassed look, given my tattered cloak and clothes.

Entering the portal it seemed all was too good to be true, but it wasn’t a dream.

My survival is now at five percent. Now that I think about it...I never got to use my sword. Or my shield what a waste...
