I waited for a bit after lunch as I searched the grounds for Keyz.
I can't believe that he would stand me up like this!
"I wonder what's keeping him? I have to get back to class," I sighed as I strayed the hallways alone.
Turning the corner, I noticed him standing there talking to Jess. He seemed to be very upset by their conversation as she blabbered on and on.
Should I say something? I paused.
"Whatcha doing?" a voice called out from behind me causing me to jump.
"Oh, it's you," I turned to see Vex standing there with a grin on his face.
"Are you waiting for someone?" he looked passed me at the arguing couple down the hall, "Still chasing after Kris I see."
"I-I am not chasing after him! We are best friends," I grumbled.
Licking his lips, he sighed, "I guess if that's what you want to call it."
I turned back to Keyz and Jess, "Did you need something from me?"
My heart sank as I watched Jess grab ahold of Keyz shirt and lean into him.
What?! I gasped.
Suddenly, I felt a set of strong arms wrap around me as my body temperature began to rise.
"How about we go out on a date later?" he whispered.
"I-I can't do that!" I blurted out incidentally gaining the attention of the couple I was spying on.
"Sam?" Keyz turned around with wide eyes as he noticed me standing there with Vex's arms around me.
"H-hey Keyz," I forced a smile.
"See? She has someone else to hang out with, Kris," Jess smiled as she grabbed ahold of his hand.
"Wassup, Keyz?" Vex grinned while tightening his grip on me.
I noticed the small sigh of disappointment on Keyz's face as he turned to walk away.
"Keys?!" I called out to him, but he ignored me as he disappeared down the hall with Jess skipping after him.
"Well, what do you say?" Vex kissed me on my cheek.
I took a deep breath and agreed to his date. I really didn’t want to go, but I shouldn't stand in the way of Kris's love life.
"Hold on, how about we skip the later, and head out right now," he released his grip on me.
"W-what? I have a few more classes," I replied as I slowly walked away from him.
"Ah, you're just gonna walk away from me again, Sammie," he pouted.
"Yes, I am," I waved back at him.
******
I sat on my bed staring down at my phone as I waited for Keyz to call me.
I guess he got the wrong idea about me and Vex?
Although it's understandable to get angry about what he saw, we all have been friends for years and he knows that I and Vex aren't like that.
BRNNG! BRNNG!
I quickly answered my phone as I waited to hear his voice, "Kris?!"
"Sorry, to disappoint you," the voice on the other end replied.
"Oh, hi Vex. What's going on?" I sighed.
"So, he still hasn't talked to you yet?" he asked.
"No, and I bet he won't talk to me for awhile," I answered as I felt tears began to well up in my eyes.
"Are you crying?" he asked.
"Not yet," I stuttered.
"Can I come over?" he whispered.
I sat the phone down for a second as I regained my composure, "Sure. Just knock on the front door. My mom should be downstairs working. She will let you in."
"Okay," he hung up the phone.
Taking a deep breath, I sucked up my tears and opened my text messages.
"Hey, Kris. Call me when you get this."
I closed my phone and put it down on the dresser as I began to get ready for Vex to come over. I don't plan on going on that date, however, but at least I don’t have to be alone right now.
It has been 10 minutes before I sent Kris another message to call me. I can't figure out why he won't call me? He isn't with Jess right now… Is he?
"Honey, Vex is here to see you!" I could hear my mom yelling from downstairs.
"Send him on up, mom!" I hollered back.
I quickly fixed my hair in the mirror as I adjusted my shirt to look a bit sexier than usual.
What the heck am I doing? I quickly changed my mind and grabbed my robe.
"Hey," Vex called out as he slowly opened my bedroom door.
"H-hey," I turned around with a smile.
"Why are you all covered up like it's 20 degrees in here or something?" he laughed walking over to me.
I pulled my robe closed tightly, "I was just a bit chilly and I couldn't find anything cute to wear."
"Cute, huh?" he grinned as he slowly walked over to me.
My heart began to beat faster as he walked up close to me. I looked from side to side as he closed in on me. Reaching out, he grabbed ahold of my robe as he opened it slowly. His eyes began to gleam as he licked his lips.
"Uh, do you want to watch a movie or something?" I muttered as my body began to flush.
He didn't answer me as he leaned in close and brushed his lips across mine.
Ugh! Move legs! Move body! Something move! I shouted at myself as I remained frozen in place.
He held onto my robe as he backed me up to the bed. My mind went blank as I fell backward onto the bed. He climbed over the top of me as I stared blindly into his eyes.
I'm not sure if this is right or not, but a part of me doesn't want him to stop. I mean, we are friends and all, but it isn't like how I and Kris are. Is that wrong? Is this wrong?
"You really have grown," he smiled down at me.
"G-going all sentimental on me, eh?" I managed to reply.
"I just missed you is all," he leaned in and kiss my cheek gently.
I didn’t know he had these kinds of feelings for me. I mean, we dated when we were younger, but that was years ago. A few sizes ago. He ended up going down the wrong path which landed him in jail. He just got out a few weeks ago, but maybe that's why he's feeling like this.
"Vex," I whispered, "I—"
He ignored me as his kiss moved from my cheek to my lips. I couldn't place this feeling in the pit of my stomach, all I knew was that I didn’t want him to be my first.
"Vex?!" I called out between kisses.
"What's wrong?" he sat up in confusion.
"I-I don't want this," I rolled away from under him, "I want Kris to be my first."
"Are you serious?" he sighed.
I sat up on the bed, "Yeah. I'm pretty sure. I just don't know how I'm supposed to do that when I don't want to ruin our friendship... Well, I guess it doesn't matter now that he is with Jess."
"Wow, that's a lot to take in," he laughed as he sat down beside me, "You do realize that I was just trying to lay with you, and you are talking about sleeping with someone else?"
"Oh, yeah. My bad," I giggled, "I just feel comfortable around you is all."
"Wow, okay," he laid back onto the bed, "Anyways. There is nothing between him and Jess. He has higher standards than that."
"You think so?" I started grinning like an idiot, "But he won't even call me back"
"I'm sure he will after he gets his pride in check," he laughed.
"I hope that's soon. It's killing me not being able to talk to him," I flopped down on the bed beside him.
"Are you sure that you don't want to train for your special moment with him?" he asked me as he grabbed ahold of my hand.
"That's weird, and no I don't," I slapped his hand.
"Well, you can't say that I didn't try," he laughed as he pulled out his phone.
"What are you doing?" I sat up.
"I'm gonna call him," he replied as he dialed his number.
I waited nervously as I stared at the phone awaiting his answer.
"Hello?" Kris answered.
"Hey, man," Vex shouted into the phone as he put it on speaker.
"What is it?" he replied.
"I'm here with Sam, and she really misses you," Vex joked.
"Don’t say that!" I tried to reach for the phone, but he pulled away from me.
"I'm glad y'all are having fun," Kris spoke in the middle of our scuffle.
"We are not having that kind of fun!" I shouted back.
"Well, at least not the kind of fun that I wanted," Vex told him.
"Um, I have to get back to work," Kris sighed.
"Wait a sec!" I called out to him.
"What is it?" he answered.
"C-can you come over after work?" I mumbled.
"I don't know," he answered.
"Please?" I begged him, "It's just to hang out. Nothing more."
"Dude, just get your butt over here," Vex told him as he hung up.
"Why did you hang up? He didn't even reply," I pouted.
"Trust me, he’s gonna come," he smiled, "Well, I should get going before you two rendezvous."
"Are you sure?" I followed him downstairs, "You can stay if you want."
"No, no," he smiled, "I don't want to get in your way."
"Ok. If you insist," I smiled as I opened the door for him, "Goodnight and be safe."
"Always," he smiled as he leaned down and kissed me on my forehead.
I closed the door with a huge sigh of relief. I couldn't believe that I wasn't more embarrassed by what just happened.
"He left already?" my mom asked as I walked by her office.
"Yes, mom," I replied as I continued up the stairs.
It was 12 o'clock when I finally blacked out from exhaustion. It has been a crazy day. All of the emotions that were flying around definitely gave me a run for my money.
Suddenly, I could feel something warm on my cheek. It was soft and gentle.
"Mhm," I fidgeted under my fluffy yellow and white polka-dotted blanket.
"Hey, beautiful," a sweet voice whispered in my ear.
"K-Kris?" I hummed.
My head was still a bit foggy as I turned over and forced my heavy eyes open.
"Sorry, to wake you, but I couldn't get off work early," he smiled down at me.
"I-it's okay," I yawned as I sat up.
He pulled off his hoodie and shoes and climbed into bed with me, as I snuggled up to his chest.
"I didn’t mean to be rude to you earlier," he whispered in between kisses to the top of my head, "Jess just got in my way."
"I don’t care," I replied as I clang to his shirt burying my face into his chest, "I should've said something earlier. Vex was trying to comfort me as he thought that I was depressed after seeing you with Jess."
"I know," he sighed, "he called me and explained. I can't believe that you thought that I would go with—"
I forced a kiss on his lips to shut him up. It was unintentional that it turned into something more as I stuck my tongue in his mouth. A look of surprise came across his face as our lips finally parted.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to shut you up," I smiled at him.
"Don’t be," he smiled back while pulling me closer to him.
He held me tight in his arms as I drifted off to sleep. I’m glad that we finally made up. It felt goods to be back in his arms.
