Hilarious historical fact: One of the bigger sources of conflict that kept Sparta and Athens from cooperating more often is that Athens didn't let women vote, and Sparta (which had a lot of women in leadership roles) found this ridiculous and insulting. They were still sexist, but in very different ways. (mostly in yow they mistreated children of both genders in different ways)
