Love, happiness, you and me

~7~

Maxwell turns off his laptop when he is done with the skype calls. Last night he had a skype call with Hyunsik, which in his opinion didn’t go as good. Especially since Hyunsik couldn’t give him any references even though he has been an au pair for a few times already. Or he at least claims to have been an au pair. His answers also weren’t satisfying for Maxwell, they seemed a bit too much towards the male himself instead of the kids. Boyd seems to be the better candidate and it looked like the kids would like him too.

Well, at least Darryl will, Zachary is still very shy when it comes to new people and needs some time. Well, and the fact that he heard that the possible new nanny will make him eat his veggies have him sulking ever since the end of the skype session. It’s something Zachary always tries, to get new people to not let him eat his veggies. Thinking back, Zachary asked the same question with Hyunsik and he barely got a reply out of it. While Boyd was playful with his answers, he still didn’t give in to them.

Maxwell made up his mind and decides that having Boyd as his au pair might be the best choice for the boys and himself. The father seemed supportive too and well Maxwell kind of understand the boy. He may not know the full situation but with the snippets he got he came far and he can relate sort of with the boy.

Maxwell takes out his phone and opens the website of aupairlife, he goes straight to the inbox session and clicks on the messages between Hyunsik and himself and starts typing away.

Dear Hyunsik,

I’m sorry to inform you about this but sadly you’re not the person I deem fitting to hire as au pair for my kids. I hope that you’ll find another family that will be perfect for you. Good luck and take care.

Kind regards,

Maxwell Lewis.

Once he has hit send, he opens the messages between Boyd and him and there he also starts typing right away.

Dear Boyd,

As promised, I’d contact you to let you know what I’ve decided. I’ve decided to take you as the au pair of my kids. I know it will be your first time abroad and well-taking care of other kids than your siblings. So, if you’re comfortable with the fact that someone is around the first few days that know the kids, I can always ask my mother. I would like to know how far you are with the paperwork and I’ll send you a copy of the contract during the week. Please let your father make contact with me if there is anything that needs to be changed in the contract.

I also would like for us to meet in person before you start your position with us. So, if you do know how long the paperwork still will take we can maybe arrange a meeting during that time. I’d be okay with flying out to Canada. I’d also like to know when you can start so I can book your plane ticket and arrange transport from the airport to our place.

All other things like how we do the payments will be in the contract and when you’re here we can discuss when you have your free days.

Kind regards,

Maxwell Lewis.

When Maxwell has sent the message, he puts away his phone and decides to close his eyes for a few seconds. The boys are both taking a nap because they couldn’t keep their eyes open, so he decides that he could take one too.

A lot of noises wake Maxwell up, it takes a few seconds before he registers that it aren’t the boys that are making those noises but his phone. He slowly sits up a bit and searches for his phone, groaning along the way of searching for his phone. He eventually finds his phone on the floor and activates his screen. The noises came from multiple notifications from Emma.

Max for real

Max is it true

Max is that bitch moving

Maxwell why aren’t you responding.

Are you dead?

Do I need to call the emergency number?

MAXWELL, come on this isn’t funny.

Before he has time to type out a reply back his phone is ringing, the screen shows Emma her name as the person calling. He picks up the phone and hears a shrieking voice on the other end.

“OH MY GOD, Max at least you’re alright since you’re picking up the phone.”

“Emma, I was having a nap. Why are you so hysterical?”

“Because I need to know if it’s true that that bitch is moving. Cause if she is she better not take along my two little boys.”

“Don’t worry Emma. I’ve full custody over them. But yes, she is indeed moving. She will be seeing them during vacations.”

“That’s good. Well since I’m speaking with you now. What’s new. How’s the search going for a nanny or manny or whatever you want to call it.”

“Quite good actually. I’ve found an au pair. Or well we still have to arrange the paperwork and such but I’ve found a guy I deem fitting. Also, one that probably won’t find me an asshole.”

“Soo, is he hot then? Cause otherwise, it’s no fun either.”

Maxwell laughs a bit and shakes his head, full well knowing that Emma won’t see his action but he knows that she knows he’s doing it.

“Well, it’s quite an attractive young lad indeed. Not sure, but I think he’s confused about his sexuality and that he’s now trying to find a way to get out of that confused state.”

“Well, then he made the right choice to work for such a handsome bloke like yourself Max.”

“Yeah yeah, Emma. Anyway, how is it going with you?”

“Good, still the usual. Going nuts at work since it’s quite hectic because well there will be announced a new manager anytime soon and everyone is kissing up to the boss his ass. It’s amusing to see actually.”

Emma has been working for a fashion magazine. She’s actually in charge of the styling for the whole magazine and has been very happy with her position.

“I bet you find that amusing indeed. Why don’t you come over for dinner tonight if you’ve not made any other plans?”

“Sounds like an idea, shall I pick up the Chinese food and bring the wine? Then you don’t have to leave with the boys.”

“That sounds wonderful. Well, then I’ll see you tonight.”

“See you at 6 then.”
