As people still question why TF you'd become a Page if it's so risky...
I thought it's kinda obvious but maybe it's just me watching too many documentaries about life in the medieval time. :'D (I have friends and a social life.. my excuse is Corona.)
Simple put: Imagine being the X child without any right to inherit in a family feeding a lot of mouths. Which... would be quite common.
So being a page is a little bit of risk and a comfy life in safety vs working on the fields, limited food supplies, in a rather unsafe environment with limited self protection. Sewing rooms over farmers life... uh... we all know what you'd pick.
So that's the reason. It's safe. And you probably still live longer inside the monastery than outside with things bumping through the night.
Next page tomorrow. Back to Embry being not a really good detective.

Every mage has a page- tucked away in the sewing rooms of the monastery - as the anchoring shield of every mage. And Embry has Kuo. But keeping the relationship without complications is impossible.
Maybe it's the way their contract was made. And maybe it shouldn't be called a contract. Maybe it's more?
