Once Upon A Villain

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Jul 05, 2020

The Mirror’s eyes softened and replied with a smile. “No. I am doing well. The girls are great. The guy treats me well…” He scrunched his eyebrows in consideration and continued. “He don’t know how to treat me… well, you know. I am a different type of sentinel, a being with no body. So it kinda becomes awkward sometimes…” He gives a bubbly giggle on that. “Then he tries to make it better by treating me with presents. Which is great.” He gives me a toothy smile, full of glee.

Sounds like he was happy. I let out a sigh of relief at that. I was worried about him.

He was different. He was born like this. He could travel anywhere by mirrors. This would have meant that he could have all the freedom in the world.

But that's not what happened…

Mortals are good at finding weaknesses and loopholes. And using them for nefarious purposes. He was imprisoned inside a single mirror for a long time before he was rescued.

He always wished for a family. But looks like a made a good decision by giving him to a GOOD family.

And just like THAT… It was a Good Morning!!

I smiled softly “I am glad, kiddo. Now go and play with your girls. I will call you back. Okk?

The Mirror nodded and the connection was cut off. My full-length mirror returned to normal.

Such a lovely day to surf… and not spend on plotting… Definitely No Plotting…

Of course, not in front of John…

But AFTER I get out of here… No Promises…

John won’t even know what hit him… RIGHT IN HIS FACE…

First, I have to sneak out.

I walk nonchalantly on the soft, grainy sands towards the rushing waves. Taking my surfboard, I start swimming towards a huge coming wave. I look over my shoulders for a minute to make sure that I am not being followed.

I turning fully towards the huge wave rushing towards me. The Wave fell on me with all its glory and might. I square my shoulders and open my eyes to bring forth my power. I lifted my left hand and pointed my finger to a point. The Time stopped and I beckoned my power to bring forth the portal to the Underworld.

My power responded with a purr and shoot out from my finger to encircle itself in a circle a few inches away from me. The circle twirled with darkness and thumped with power of the Underworld.

I directly stepped into the Underworld through the circle of pulsing power. The Sky was dark with no moon to light it up. The Underworld was lit up with its own glamour and glitter of precious rubies, diamonds, and gemstones along with precious metals like gold, silver and sometimes even platinum. I was standing in the waters that surrounded the huge palace. The Palace of the Lord of Underworld was the one of the most beautiful things to see here.

People always mistaken Underworld with Hell. But, they are NOT the same.

For some, Underworld was a Refuge. It is like a Species Refugee Camp. There were many who migrated from the Old world because of their dwindling numbers. To protect them and nurture them is only one of the duties of the Lord of Underworld. Like the Rakshasas who faced mass hunting because of the widespread misconception that Asuras and Rakshasas are the same. Like the Dragons who just wanted to hoard their riches and sleep in mountains for decades but were hunted by the so-called noble (aka Greedy) Knights for their Hoards.

For some, Underworld was a Dungeon. Fancy and pricey looking one at that. Nevertheless, a Cage. Like for those mermaids who are not allowed to move on even after their deaths. Kept in the other side of the Lord’s Palace, they are near to the river flowing by but punished to be devoid of waters. For a mermaid to be without the waters is like being without oxygen. They die every day because of the lack of water. But they are revived every day… Again…, again…, and again… Like the sailors whom they drowned and murdered due to lack of oxygen in deep waters… Until the sailors whom they drowned for fun in the icy-cold waters, come forward and forgive them.

Pretty Ironic, huh?
