Part 2: Jasmine
The weekend was fun: I hung out with Bridget and went shopping with my Mum.
“Morning Jasmine,” Sara waved me over to my seat in form.
“You’re here before me,” I acknowledged. “Must be a new era of the human race.”
“Nope, just a Monday,” she sighed.
I laughed. Sara smiled and pulled her red leather notebook out of her bag.
“I’m thinking of getting my hair dyed,” she explained, showing me a picture of her with pink and burgundy streaks in her hair.
“Sounds- and looks- like a great idea!” I exclaimed. “I mean, I have experience.”
I pretended I was a Disney princess, my aqua braids flowing in the non-existent wind. Sara laughed and thwacked me on the head.
“Now all you need is a young, handsome prince to come and take over all your decisions.” she joked.
“That is not going to happen to me,” I replied.
Sara stuck her tongue out at me and smirked
“Are you sure?” she asked, using her pocket mirror to check her lipstick.
“Yes. I’m going to focus on my studies and-” I began the routine of why dating is useless unless love is what you’re looking for, until Sara interrupted:
“Would you look at that, Cooper’s wearing makeup!” she exclaimed.
I turned my head in shock. “What?”
I saw him talking to Nick, and I slapped Sara on the shoulder.
“No he’s not, he always looks like that.” I replied.
She gave me a strange glance. “How do you know?”
My eyes widened and the bell rang. Phew. I said goodbye and headed to the maths Block: Sara had a music lesson.
“Have a nice day!” our form tutor cheerily waved us goodbye.
I was walking down the corridor when I saw Nick and Cooper chatting. I walked passed, and asked Nick: “Hey, heading to class?”
“Yeah,” he replied.
We both turned and began walking down the remainder of the corridor. Cooper looked distraught. I smiled. He looks ridiculous when he makes that face. I turned to Nick, and he smiled. I returned the smile, till his face contorted in confusion. He turned back to look at Cooper.
“Why am I so pale?” he asked him.
I mentally laughed. Nick is quite pale.
Cooper laughed: “No idea, now go and do things I will never have the brain power to understand.”
I sniggered. What? It’s funny. He’s literally expressing his stupidity. We continued walking until we entered the classroom.
Maths was a drag. We were learning about simultaneous equations, so I slept through most of it. I walked to geography alone, because I seem to be that lonely.
Bridget was waiting for me when I entered the classroom.
“Hey! You’ll never guess what I heard in maths-” she began.
“I don’t care, Bridget. I do care about surviving my Monday without any emotional casualties.”
She lowered her head: “Fine Ms Boring.”
I smiled. Let’s just enjoy today.”
“Hey guys!” said a cheerful voice: Peggy. She sat down next to me and pulled her geography book out of her bag. “How’s it going?”
“Good.” I smiled.
“Tiring,” moaned Bridget.
“Peachy!” replied Peggy.
“Who says peachy?” Bridget laughed.
We continued our odd conversation until the teacher asked us to settle down.
I was oblivious to a post-it note in Peggy’s bag, which read in blue Biro:
Cooper and Jasmine: Romeo and Juliet???
An answer was written in black:
Yes.
