Space, Year 3045:
The galaxy was bigger than one could think. There were hidden places all over the galaxy. One of them was the Sontarans’ space base. It was a place where all the greatest wonders of the galaxy could hide and be protected. Dangerous weapons, viruses, artefacts were kept protected. At the time of Torchwood’s end, Jack decided to find this hidden base to keep the RETGAIN. People with bad intentions could use it for wrong purposes. The Doctor was a bit scared going there. He’d never gone to this legendary place, few were the one who had the chance to discover this base. The Doctor couldn’t have been certain to be welcomed with open arms. Firstly, the Doctor is seen as much as a saviour than a foe. The Sontarans were born to fight and no matter what excuses the Doctor could give, they won’t let anyone take one of their safe.
“Alright guys. Here we are. Be careful. We need to look friendly.” The Doctor said while programming the coordinates given by Jack.
“I’m already very excited. I hope we have some drama.” Jack, a sucker for trouble.
The team landed in a library. The walls were filled with books, only a small desk was in the room. They went out of the TARDIS but there were already a dozen Sontarans waiting for them to come out.
“Who are you?” One of the Sontarans asked while pointing his gun to the Doctor.
“We are..Torchwood.”The Doctor showed his psychic paper. “We are here to get our precious back.”
“How can we trust you?” One of the Sontarans asked.
“Come on! How could you forget the most beautiful face of the galaxy?” Jack was also a very very narcissistic person.
“Emergency, general in chief, you are demanded on the 78th floor.”
“Who are you calling?” The Doctor asked.
“Are you deaf? Our General in chief, Noble.” The Sontarans replied.
“Noble. Weird name. “Jack was mocking the name of the general who will possibly decide their right to live.
“Doctor, I really hope this man is good.” Mac said with a panicked voice.
“Oh god, I really hope too.” Said the Doctor.
Everyone heard 3 knocks. The Doctor knew it was to announce the arrival of the general. The door opened, 2 Sontarans entered. Following them, was a tall blonde woman. She looked impressive. Even though she was skinny, she had the posture of a general. The Doctor looked weird like he knew who this girl was. He wasn’t sure about it. He couldn’t believe she was still alive after all these years.
“Good morning. I’m general Noble from the Secret Sontarans Division.” She said. “ I heard you are here to reclaim one of your treasures. But. Everyone knows no treasure can be returned”. She looked angry.
“Can I ask you a question?” The Doctor asked.
“Of course, Mister?” She said.
“Is your name Jenny?” Jenny was the name of the Doctor’s daughter. Actually, it was not his biological daughter. She was a human clone based on the Doctor’s DNA. The general looked identical to his daughter. The Doctor believed it must have been another clone but based on someone else's DNA.
“Why this question, Mister?” General Noble asked.
“Answer me, please. Tell me it’s not your name. I don’t want to suffer again.” It looked like the Doctor was feeling all the pain he once felt when Jenny, his daughter, died.
“My name is Jenny Noble. Now, answer to my question. Who are you?”
“I’m the Doctor, darling.” He stepped closer to her. “I’m so sorry.” The Doctor was feeling so much pain. He knew he had abandoned his daughter when she could have needed him the most.
“Dad? You are alive.” Jenny hugged the Doctor. She seemed happy and not upset.
“What the hell is happening? Doctor since when do you have a daughter?” Daniella was surprised by this revelation.
“Long story, for another time.” The Doctor said to Dani. “I’m sorry. I should have been looking for you.”
“Don’t worry, it’s not your fault. Who could have thought I would have ended in a secret base?”
When the Doctor and Jenny first met. The Doctor thought she died but after his regeneration he met her in Esto, the world of telepathic plants. Back then, she was a Galaxy guardian of peace. He visited her once in a while until the day the Cyberiad was destroyed. Jenny was working on a mission in the Cybermen’s carrier ship. When he got destroyed, she went missing for months. This is what the Doctor knew happened. In fact, one of the light beans opened a portal to the Sontarans Secret Base. She arrived there and was first imprisoned until they knew she was not a threat. She learned everything about the base and pursued her soldier career within the Sontaran army. She climbed the ladder and became the General Noble, a homage to the woman who helped her in her homeworld.
“What are you here for? What do you need?” Jenny asked.
“A long time ago, I gave you an important object. I need it back. I gave it under the name the Face of Boe, Torchwood.” Jack replied.
“Oh, it’s not here anymore. I’m sorry. You already came for it.” Everyone was surprised by what she said.
“My future self?” Jack asked the Doctor. “Why do I want it?”
“No, he didn’t look like you.” Jenny told him. “Like none of you. Actually, half of his face was hidden by an iron mask.”
“The Lone Cyberman?” The Doctor asked.
“Not the look of a Cyberman. He had a long black robe with a hood. Very mysterious.” She said. Jenny turned to her army and asked “Did you see how he arrived here? What does he show you?”
“General, the man arrived in a black box.” One of the Sontarans answered.
“A black box like mine?” The Doctor was starting to find this story weird. An element was missing and maybe it had a link with the amnesic man.
“The same one but black.” Told one of the Sontarans.
“Another Time Lord? It is possible?” Dani added.
“Who has the exact same box than me. It must be my future self. But why would he want it? ” The Doctor was lost. He had so much information with no link between them.
“We need to go back to Mac and our new companion. They might know something.”
“How? The man doesn’t remember his name, how could he remember something else?” Dani said to the Doctor.
“He has two hearts. He might be a Time Lord. Either, he knows who took the RETGAIN or it was his future self.” The Doctor had those two theories and he really hoped they didn’t rescue a potential enemy.
Dani, Jenny and Jack felt something weird was coming for the Doctor. Everything that had happened the last 2 days led to the mystery of the amnesic man. The Doctor said goodbye to his daughter. They promised to visit once in a while like the good old days. The TARDIS took them at the exact moment when they left. When they went out of the ship, they discovered a ruined city. In the gap of one second the city has been destroyed. There were smoke, fires, sounds of car’s alarms. It was a horrible vision. The city they loved was not shining anymore. As they walked in the city, they heard screams. They saw dead bodies. People agonising. The apocalypse had happened. The Doctor never believed London could fall so fast. For the first time he wasn’t able to save his beloved city. The Doctor was analysing every corner of the city to find a clue. At the time of the Zygon war, the Doctor created a secret message code with Mac. Through graffitis or modified advertisement, they could communicate. Something drew his attention. A writing on a wall: BW. This writing seemed familiar to him, though it was not a message from Mac.
“Doctor we must have been lost. This can’t be 2004 London.” Daniella said while weeping, “This is terrible. I’ve never seen something like that.”
“No. It is 2004. London has been attacked.” Jack replied.
“We shouldn’t have rescued this man. Look at what happened. It’s his fault.” Dani said. The pain of seeing humanity dying and knowing Mac was potentially dead made her suffer. Jack saw a billboard on a bus, intact as it was replaced after the attack.
“Doctor, look.” Jack pointed to the bus. The Doctor read the message: If you need a face shifting come see the Doctor at 4.5433.989. This were coordinates supposedly where Mac was hiding.
“Jack, I love you.” The Doctor kissed Jack. “Brillant. Mac, you are brilliant.” The Doctor said while walking towards the TARDIS.
