Jul 14, 2020

*authors note: hey, i just want to apologize again for how long this took. i'm gonna go into more detail down below, but enjoy.*

Emily giggled, sitting across from her foster brother on the floor. "I'm telling you, it's true! it actually happened like that!"

Cody rolled his eyes, crossing his arms. "Come on Em, you're always making stuff up. Like that time you told us that if we eat watermelon seeds we'll grow a watermelon in our stomach."

His twin Sarah nodded. "Or when you said moths come out at night because they're secretly witches!"

Emily chuckled, holding up her hands in surrender. "Okay, I... may not have been fully telling the truth then, but I am now! It really happened like that!"

Cody frowned. "Prove it then!"

Emily smiled, standing. "Alright then. Come on." She walked to the steps, hearing her two foster siblings scrambling to stand and hurrying after her. Stopping outside of her room, she put her hand on the door, glancing at the two children. "Are you two ready?" They nodded. Sarah's face was slightly excited, but Cody still looked skeptical. Emily chuckled, opening her door.

Her room was heavily decorated. The bright blue walls were nearly completely covered in posters for bands she liked: Ice Nine Kills, Set It Off, Voltaire. Interspersed between the band posters were photos taken of her and her family on various trips, as well as her and her friends she made when she started at school. A full length mirror hung on her closet door wit ha golden frame. It was this that she was interested in.

Emily stood in front of the mirror, smiling at her reflection. She looked at her siblings, smiling. "Watch." Reaching out, she placed her hand on the mirror, closing her eyes and leaning in, whispering. "It's alright. I want them to know. It's safe." There was a pregnant pause before she heard the gasps. Opening her eyes, she looked at her reflection, who was smiling back at her, fingers wrapped around her own. "hello again, old friend."
