*Sigh*
I'm laying on my bed now, thinking to myself, why did I lie and say that I wrote the poem? Yeah I wrote the end of it, but to say I came up with the idea of a dying butterfly? Like, what??
That poem is probably something special to Arseni, maybe, a coping mechanism for her powers, or even for both her and Arledo.
Arledo??
Maybe I can talk to him about it? I need to do this personally, I need to ask him what the poem means to her.
As I'm about to get up though, Arseni comes in, on the phone again with one of her friends, which i'm assuming is Jolena.
She prances in the room, throwing her scarf around her neck off of her, and sits down in her chair, opening her laptop, talking about some guy it seems, she has the lily light tone in her voice, and she seems excited by the way she is typing in haste and giggling constantly.
How do girls talk like this?
Oh well, I'm just gonna head out to see Arledo, better text him and see what he's doing first.
"Hey Arledo, are you free right now?"
......
"Yeah, i'm at the park, just reading some things for my class, but I don't mind your company"
"Okay, cool, i'm on my way to you"
"Can't wait to see you, you know i'm gonna ask"
"Yeah, the comic is amazing, publish it so it can be our next Marvel or DC"
"No.....I want to make my own company"
";) Go ahead and try boy"
Don't mind the conversation guys.
As i'm walking over, seeing Arledo peacefully sitting by himself on a park bench under a pretty fall filled tree. Over from him, I see Raines talking to what looks like, Jolena?
She's his cousin, but, I never seen Raines on campus, I remember Michael telling me that he and Raines are roommates, and they are juniors so it's easy for them. He looks a little happier, is that a smile on his face....? Maybe it's because of Jolena, wow, this is really my first time seeing Raines here...
"Hey! Kierra! I'm right here!" Arledo shouts, looking at me with joy.
I wave to him, feeling a bit stupid as I was really just standing here running my mouth in head about seeing Raines not at work, well, it's a Friday and he's off, so...
ANYWAYS
"Hey Arledo" I say as I walk up to him. Immediately though he gets up and hugs me, tightly, seriously what's with all the tight hugs?
We sit down and he looks at me with an smirking face saying "On a scale of 1 to 10, what would you rate that chapter you just read" "On a scale of 1 to 10....? Hm......50" "So more than 10 then, i'm glad, seriously"
"Have your friends seen it?" "No, I don't want to show them yet" "Oh, okay"
He looked a bit sad saying that, but I couldn't ask why.
Then he suddenly blurts out after a few seconds of silence. "Thanks Kierra, for being a friend again" Then he smiles at me, passionately it seems.
It shook me a bit, but I manage myself and say "You're a great storyteller" "And you're a great writer"
Silence interrupted us again, and I look back wondering if Raines was still there, and he wasn't. "What's the matter?" He says.
"Nothing, I just saw Raines there earlier, I do have to get to work soon, but, speaking of work, when I was at work yesterday, a famous writer named Clever Johnson came in and said that he loves the butterfly poem" "Really, the one Arseni made?" "Yeah, I had a card of it on the counter, I finished it for her actually, so, he asked if I can help him with a logo for The Blossoming Program"
"Wait? He paused, "He asked you that?" "How important is that poem to Arseni, is it about the both of you? Or about your abilities? Or...."
"Why? He paused again, "Did you tell him that you wrote it?" I hesitated to answer, but this is what i'm here for so....
"Yes, I told him about all my writings and that I wrote Arseni's too, i'm sorry, she just didn't care enough to want it back"
"Kierra, that poem.....Is....Important, but....It's actually" He paused again, but this time, as if he was trying to process something.
"You know, you probably don't want me to tell her, but It's not her favorite I would say, just go ahead and write it for Clever Johnson" "Really? Are you sure, I mean, she's gonna see it somehow" "That's the thing, I think you should tell her, clear it up now"
"I guess, i'll try, so that I can make my decision, I mean my family would actually think i'm relevant for once if I do this" "Then go ahead, but ask Arseni first, okay, now I have to go to class, talk to you later?" "Sure"
He pats my head and leaves, and I myself get ready to go back to my dorm, to try and make this decision.
I walk inside my dorm preparing to see Arseni, but....She's gone, of course, when I need her most.
"Oh good grief" As I get my bag and prepare to go to work, noticing that the window is open, due to the strong breeze that's throwing my hair everywhere, I go up to close it.
"Arseni must have left this open" About to close it shut, a white and black dotted bug flies into my dorm room. Freaking me out, I slammed the window closed unwillingly.
"Ah! Good gracious.....What is that that just came in here...?" I turn around and see a big gorgeous white and black butterfly, laying on my bed, with it's wings flapping in and out, and the sun from the window is shining on it strictly, perfectly, for me to see all its details.
Staring at it forcefully it seems, I finally open the window again, trying to grab it and put it outside hopefully.
"Come on little butterfly....."
As I pick it up, I try to get it the window, only to realize its immobility to move, it's not moving at all, it must be.
"It's dead" I say to myself. "What killed it? How did it die? It flew in here perfectly.
Putting it by the window, I leave it there so that I can go to work, hopefully I can put it away later.
This work day was oddly quiet, Raines only looked at me once, and it was just mostly about the people.
When I get back, I still don't see Arseni, but the butterfly is gone, it's not anywhere in the room as i'm checking, but, it's just gone already, so, Arseni must have seen it and put it away.
Sigh......I am really gonna take all the credit for this, Arseni's just been so weird and standoffish lately, it's just.........ugh, I don't she cares, she would have asked for it back if she cared, but she never did, and i'm not sure if she will.
No matter how stupid this is, I made the poem better, and my parents will love me for this, i'm a writer, this is my ambition, plus Arseni's passion is cooking, she told me so.....
*Ring Ring*
"Hi, Mr. Johnson, it's me Kierra Merkley, and i'm calling to say that I would like to help with The Blossoming Program"
