Chapter 6 - Part 2

Chapter 6 - Part 2

Part 2: Jasmine

I walked out of my geography classroom, Bridget at my side.

“That was boring as hell,” Bridget complained, pulling her hair into a ponytail using an aqua scrunchie.

I nodded, waving goodbye to Peggy as she walked into the library. Bridget and I sat in our usual space: everyone’s got one, you just go to your area and wait for your friends, it’s strange really.

“What did you think of my hair design?” asked Sara, coming to sit next to Bridget.

“I think it’s an epic idea,” I told her, smiling.

“The picture was awesome as well,” added Bridget, her ginger curls bouncing in agreement. We continued to talk about Sara’s hair plan when Bridget looked over to where Cooper and his lot sits.

“Ooh, drama,” she teased, pointing.

We all looked over to see Nick storming off, Justin looking worried, and Cooper looking like he was going to explode. I laughed.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I exercise caution: going within 2 metres of Cooper may cause him to self-destruct. Advance at your own risk.” I joked.

Sara and Bridget laughed with me. I pulled my apple out my bag and, dozing off, started eating it.

I had no idea how long I had been sitting there, staring at the ground, day-dreaming, but I looked up to see Cooper looking down at me expectantly.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“To speak with you,” he replied. “Alone.”

“Ooh, got something to say?” mocked Bridget.

Cooper threw a piece of pasta from the floor into Bridget’s hair. She squeaked and flailed her arms around. Sara grabbed a tissue from her bag and began ridding Bridget of the pasta, scowling at Cooper like there was no tomorrow.

“Okay, as long as you don’t attack any more of my friends with starchy food items,” I replied, standing up.

We walked to the corner of the maths block in silence. When we arrived, I leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

“What do you want?” I asked. “A golden castle? A country named after you? A bigger entourage of hopeless girls?”

“That’s n-not my fault! And none of yo-your business!” he spluttered.

I sniggered. Cooper’s funny when he’s stressed.

“So?” I asked. I wanted to get this over with fast.

“Do you know what Nick told Peggy?” he asked.

I furrowed my eyebrows. “No, but then, they both say a lot of strange things.”

He shook his head.

“You don’t know! Ugh! Who on this earth knows what Nick told Peggy!” Cooper exclaimed in anger. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration. His hair’s getting long. He needs a haircut.

“Maybe, just a suggestion, Nick and Peggy?” I suggested.

He jumped. Then, his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree.

“I haven’t asked Peggy!” Cooper realised. “Jasmine, you are a genius!”

I smirked: “I’m not, I’m just smarter than you.”

He turned to me, smiling like a maniac, hugged me and ran off.

I stood there, in shock, and slowly began to walk back to my friends.
