Chapter 07 - 'Habits of the Heart'
Cool night air diffused the heat within the royal chambers. Sitting comfortably in a kneeling position, Waide pulled the two halves of his robe tighter. The sheer blue material did not do much to hide what was on display. Rising up from the shadows, broad shoulders complete with a muscular chest made Waide's insides turn.
The look served his way by the royal blue eyes that feasted on him drove him crazy. Extending his hand back, slender fingers captured it. Teasing kisses were placed on the exposed skin. Following the pull on his hand. Waide crawled over to the one he couldn't get enough of.
Cradling the most important person to him, in his arms. His Eminence was gentle in stroking the supple skin beneath his palms. Hearing a contented purr out of Waide's lips, thin fingers lifted his chin. Smooth lips slid across each other intensifying the desire already felt. Releasing the soft lips from his hold, His Eminency left a short peck on Waide's nose causing him to chuckle.
The first ray of sunlight pierced the curtains of the canopy bed. Sensitive to the light His Eminence's head turned to the source. Still wrapped in the darkness of the room Waide's smile slowly disappeared. He knew that look and what it meant. It was time for His Eminency to leave.
Pouting at Fiha for rising too early, Waide turned away and flopped ungracefully onto the bed. His Eminence's laughter filled the room. He enveloped the small creature in his arms. Nuzzling the warm nut brown hair, which gave off the most alluring salty, sea breeze scent.
How did the Gods and Goddesses bless me with someone so ... perfect? His Eminence smiled for the beautiful man lying with him.
Waide made a shooing motion with his hands. Grumbles of displeasure were heard soon after. A cheeky smile could be seen on Waide's lips. Moving with the fluidity of the nymph, a short kiss of light weight was placed on His Eminence's lips.
"I might just lock you away if you do that again," said His Eminence. This earned him the unfettered laughter of Waide. Pausing for a moment his features stilled.
"Yes, sir!" said Waide, his serious charade faded giving way to a beautiful smile. Half hidden by wavy brown locks, green eyes jumped in excitement at the thought of His Eminence keeping his word.
His Eminence took up his discarded clothing on the bedroom floors and began to dress himself. The hottest show that Waide had ever seen had begun.
The sun's soft orange glow on his skin made him look even more enticing. The wind blowing in his blue black hair added to the appeal of the man standing before him. Moans of impatience and displeasure left Waide's throat.
"Why can't you marry me already! This sneaking around isn't doing either of us a favour! Especially as you shouldn't even be in the Capital city! Just take me with you," said Waide.
His frustration could be heard in every syllable that left his lips. His Eminence carefully hid any and all reactions he may have had to the unfiltered statements of his lover.
If you only knew the effects these words had on me...
What he felt could not be put into words and that was what upset him the most. The feelings they held for each other though it seemed mutual on the surface, was unstable and lacked proper roots.
To make matters worse Waide was the Crown Prince of a country that was at war with his. Not only that but his country was not as liberal as the Underworld, and it didn't protect its masses with equal marriage rights. This angered His Eminence.
Who gave them the right to decide what is love?
A gay Prince? That would be the best joke anyone in the Xyrian Royal family could hear and His Eminence did not want to destroy the bonds of the Waide's family. His Eminence walked back to the canopy watching it's occupant. Such a beautiful man. His Eminence brushed over the intruding thoughts.
"I do not know if I will be here next week..." said His Eminence.
His words were cut off by the salty taste of the sea. A deep growl rattled from within His Eminence's skeleton signalling an internal change. The tiny hairs on Waide's arm stood on edge. He knew His Highness only did that when he refused to part. The more time spent with the man of darkness, the less of an angered tone the growl held and the more of a reluctant tone was heard.
Looking into the eyeless sockets of the haala standing before him. Waide rose higher placing a chaste kiss on where his lips should be. The haala scoffed, its golden bones which signified royal blood shined brightly in the early morning light. The Dark King walked to the bedroom's private balcony overlooking the sea.
"I'll miss you," said Waide.
Navy blue eyes looked back to him. With a smirk. His Eminence waved goodbye walking into the inbetween.
"Ambrose just make him yours. What is Ambrose waiting on? Bring him to the father! Marry him as soon as the opportunity arises," said a lukewarm voice. His strawberry blonde curls catching the sunlight in a spectacular way. Though he looked eye catching no matter the angle it did nothing for the scowl on his face.
"Let's go, Titan," said His Eminence.
He brushed off the words of his confident. What should have been an eight hour trip took only five minutes for the two men. On their way to the boundary of the capital city, His Eminence stole short glances at the man at his side. He knew that although Titan's words seemed to support them on the surface, they were in fact forced.
His Eminence's skeleton had seen three centuries come and go. He had witnessed many evil acts being carried out, however the one played out right before his eyes seemed the most unfair. Titan was a gift of sorts from the King of a neighbouring Country, Eyliss. The marriage was arranged by his father, the King at that time, and the King of Eyliss.
Even that day when he was first introduced to Titan he thought the idea was absurd. There was nothing to gain from the marriage and besides, His Eminence had plans for greatness that clashed with his father's ideas. Yet caught up in the winds of change, the two were quickly put into Fusion.
The sacred ritual performed before the actual marriage scared Ambrose to his golden core. They had already selected two samples of bone marrow, and it was crafted into a magically enhanced pill. If His Eminence tried hard enough he would see the date sized pill glowing its golden glow in his hand.
The room in which they stood was quietly evacuated leaving them alone with three birth maids. Titan's face held indifference as he stripped, before crawling onto the bed. The birth maids each took a place at his side. Navy blue eyes stared at the cream coloured sheets as his legs slid open. Each leg was held at the knee by one of the ladies. A firm hold was placed on his chest and arms by the third birth maid.
The tension felt in that moment was undeniable. Ambrose quickly shed the layers he wore. Climbing onto the bed. Ambrose positioned himself between Titan's legs. Finding the upright position of the Fused piece, he pressed it against the available skin between Titan's thighs. The small seed was chanted over activating the seals on the magic within. At first nothing appeared to happen.
Ambrose narrowed his eyes at the seed, unaware of the owner's face gaining a red flush from being stared at so blatantly. The first dark tendril stabbed the soft flesh. An agonizing cry was heard in the room as more dark tendrils began to drill into the flesh offered as sacrifice. Blood slowly seeped onto the bed to Ambrose's horror.
"My Prince you should relieve him," said the birth maid on his right.
Her face marred by age, did nothing to hide the intelligence that resided in her eyes. Titan's cries continued in the room, his struggle against the maids was violent and desperate.
Why would he give himself up, if he would be in so much pain? All for a child that may never love him.
His Eminence soon found himself hovering over Titan's body. A line of clear saliva exited Titan's lips, running down his face to meet the tears which had long started to fall. Eyes squeezed shut Titan writhed on the bed gasping for air in between his shouts.
A feeling grabbed Ambrose by the throat. Suddenly acting out what was a simple fertilization, caused heart stopping anxiety in him. Pulling away he stumbled in the room taking up his clothes. The maids desperate shouts could not stop him. Blinded by his own emotions he fled the room taking the nearest exit. Running into the bitter cold of the night, Ambrose ran from himself.
Feet that grew heavier with each step, took him through the hallways of the castle. The dark sun was high in the sky casting a gloomy shadow over Ambrose's person. A voice hoarse and filled with pain cried out, not needing to see the person. Ambrose knew who it was. The implantation of the artificial womb was still in progress. Entering the room next to the one he was originally assigned, he ordered everyone out.
The second the door was shut, Ambrose fell heavily onto the lounge chair. He could hear every breath, every scream, every wail and it caused goosebumps to rise on his skin. Yet one simple thing was stopping him from completing the fertilization.
I do not love him.
Those words stayed with him until the very present moment, where the womb lay dormant inside Titan awaiting him to fertilize what lay inside.
With a sigh he focussed on the boundary that they were about to cross. It was quite reliable in detecting dark energy. His Eminence hoped their exit would be as smooth as their entry. Shutting off all the stray thoughts within himself, His Eminence looked at the obstacle in the way.
Time for action.
