It was silent.
Kai stood unmoving as he waited for their reply. The five that sat in from of him looked at him as if he had gone mad. Cassini even had his jaw hanging open with a slightly fearful look as his eyes shifted from Kai to Keeper as they held an intense staring match.
Slowly the corners of Keeper's lips pulled upwards. It started off as a barely audible chuckle but quickly changed into a burst of booming laughter. Councilman Keeper threw his head back laughing to the high heavens as tears formed in his eyes. Others soon began to join in, following along with their leaders as the also began to find amusement in the situation. "Please tell me your joking!" Keeper said as he wiped the tears from his eyes.
Kai remained still. When it was clear that he was indeed not joking Keeper sobered up and stared angrily down at Kai, "You are way out of your depths human," he spit out in disgust. "I don't know where you got your information from but that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. These are obviously rumors spread by others who wish to tarnish our righteous name. It is also funny that they decided to send the weakest of creatures on this planet to chastise us, I'm actually kind of offended."
Kai shook his head, "I can assure you that no one has sent me, you did a spectacular job keeping such a tight lid on everything. Unfortunately for you though, I had been passing through this quaint little town when I had coincidentally stumbled upon this coven and thought that the Coven of Grace is long overdue for an evaluation.
I have been keeping an eye on this coven for the past few days, and I must say, I am not impressed with what I have seen thus far. I am especially displeased with the council's leadership skills."
Councilmen Keeper rolled his eyes and scoffed, "I think it's time for you to leave. You clearly don't know what you're saying or who you're dealing with and you're starting to tick me off. Fredrick, Kole, see to it he finds the exit. It would be a waste of breath to even challenge you to a fight that you will surely lose."
Two men stood from their chairs that were on either side of Kai but before they could grab ahold of him, Kai took a step forward. "But that didn't stop you from battling with that young man yesterday for merely spilling a bit of liquid on your shoes now did it? Even though it was clearly an accident and he had apologized and pleaded for forgiveness, you still challenged him. Taught him a "lesson". You battled him when he clearly stood no chance of winning. You showed no mercy as you beat him down till he could no longer stand!" Kai's anger began to rise as he remembered the poor lad who had laid bloody on the concrete floor. Kai had so desperately wanted to intervene but Cora had sadly and angrily reminded him that it was not the right time to reveal themselves. He had also been saddened that no one else had intervened. In a way, he understood though. If they had, they would have probably have suffered the same fate, if not worse than the little boy. But what angered him was that no one had even batted an eyelash or looked twice as he pleaded for help. In their eyes he had seen no regret, no concern for the child, they hadn't even looked a bit fazed at his cries.
Kai took a few deep calming breaths before continuing, "The Coven of Grace's disgraceful enterprise has gone on for far too long and I have come to bring an end to it as well as bring forth punishment upon the leaders of this coven, as that is where the problems have stemmed from and where they still lie.
Punishment of the possession of Potion 5392-06-G.W. or in modern terms 'Love Potion' is also in order."
Councilor Keeper looked ready to jump over the table in order to strangle Kai. He had slowly stood from his seat as Kai had been speaking and now loomed over his forgotten meal.
"I am curious though," You could hear that he had a smirk on his face as he spoke, "Where did you get your hands on such a powerful potion council? It is obvious that none of you are strong enough to have made it yourselves. So how, pray tell, did such a potion end up in your reprehensible hands?"
Kai smiled in amusement seeing the council bristle at his words. He had an inkling that they would not be fond of his backhanded remarks but he couldn't help himself. It was a question that needed to be asked and one that he wanted an answer to. Feeling their magical properties, really none of them were strong enough to have casted the spell. And just as he had predicted, they had not found his question as humourous as he had, especially Keeper.
Councilor Keeper slammed his hands down on the table and began shouting at Kai. The louder he got the more the stench of death began to fill the air. The lights flickered on and off and people jumped onto any available areas on tables and chairs to get away from the cracking floor beneath their feet. "Who the hell do you think you are! How dare you come into my home and disrespect ME!
You want to see power?! I'll show you just how powerful I really am! You should have left when I gave you the chance, now you're going to die for your insolence!"
Thick black smoke seeped from the cracks as the dead rose from the ground. The had councilman was shaking in anger.
The skeletons who were now standing among the living began to surround him, but he also took note that it was not just him that they had cornered. The councilman was not fully in charge of them as some began to stalk towards the men, women, and children in the room. Kai shook his head in disappointment, "He is reckless and still has yet to master his own skills of necromancy." Just as one of the dead was about to grab a little girl Kai decided that enough was enough. Keeper had decided to show his true nature, now, it was his turn.
"ENOUGH!"
His voice boomed throughout the room. The sheer power of his voice shook the entire building and the aura that was now rolling off of him in waves was suffocating. Their bodies shook with immense fear and the people, alive or otherwise, dropped as her legs had given out.
With a snap of his fingers, the table that blocked his view of the council flew to the right and collided with the wall. Each of the councilmen were white as sheets and visibly shaken to their core. Kai shook his head before speaking with a clear, strong, and authoritative voice, "Return to your eternal slumber." The dead stood then dropped down to one knee before turning into wisps of black smoke that flew back into the cracks in the floor. Kai made a show of closing up the earth by spreading his arms out to his sides and bringing them to his front before clenching his fists. He knew he was being extra with the hand motions as he really didn't need to do them, but he did it so that it was unmistakable that it was indeed him that was doing all they were seeing.
As the saying goes, seeing is believing.
"As of today, the Coven of Grace is now under suspension until further notice. I strip you, Mr. Cassini, Mrs. Viana, Mrs. Mariana, Mr. Sislier, and Mr. Keeper of your titles. You are no longer in lead of this coven. As I will not be able to watch over you personally, you will be under the protection and watchful eyes of my appointed. You shall be their apprentices as they will teach you the ways of a true and just ruler. They will be in charge of the coven until you prove to them that you have learned your lessons and deserve your titles back."
