Her consciousness drags her back into reality when the mighty ray of the sun touched her eyelids.
She then proceeded to the windows, there she saw an unidentified person. Probably the injured child from before. The child walked somewhere, and Ethna could not help but wanting to follow him. When she arrived, she watches him carefully.
The child put his pale skinned foot that's enveloped by bandages in the river as he sat beside it. His hair has the darkest black, almost out of the world.
He's very thin and somehow seems so frail, as if a touch will break him. Yet, strong, very strong as if nothing could break him. Ethna find it very fascinating.
The child then noticed her presence and turns around.
When he did, Ethna imagines a gust of wind striking against her, another unworldly creature she thought.
His face would be very handsome in the future, she knows. His eyes, oh his eyes, why she's thrown here to see more beautiful things she thought.
Similar with ephemere, it is as though a crystal, it saws through something more than the physical world, something that ordinary people could not see. He then gave her an angelic smile, and ethna felt like she would just rot there, under his presence.
Odd she thought, Ephemere said that he's more human than him, but all could she see is an entity that is as magical as him.
His hand reached to her but seems so lost. That is when Ethna realizes that his eyes despite like it can see through anything, seems so unfocused. This child is blind. Ethna took his hand and sat beside him.
"Hi, I'm Ethna Flaneur. What is your name?" Ethna now initiated first.
"Charles, as for my family name, my father said it's better to keep it a secret." he answered.
"How old are you? You seem fairly young yet has been through a lot" she then regretted for what she has said, feeling that she stepped far too private. She proceeded with a small 'sorry for saying like I know everything'.
"I'm 8, and it's not as if you talked out of line, seeing the people who're injured this much would probably make people think that I've been through much. And that's mostly true maybe."
Now she felt somehow embarrassed by the fact that an eight years old boy tried to comfort her instead the opposite. She's truly very bad with words.
Charles, felt familiar, he is similar with Ephemere, in more than one ways. Yet different, Charles had a childish hope, an energy that seems to flow out of him, while Ephemere seems so old, and tired as if time has drain him.
Charles stares at nothing while still holding on Ethna's hand tightly. Afraid of letting go and Ethna realizes this. This child is wise beyond his year and strong, but young and deeply insecure.
" Well it seems both of you are well acquainted"
Charles and Ethna turned their head towards Ephemere who stood there with his usual debonair smile.
