Ten Years Later...
Somewhere in San Francisco
'Freedom at last!' A man thinks as he rushes through the bustling city by the bay and to his new home.
He's now beginning college and can't be more than ecstatic about it. Originally his plan was to stay in the dorms but once he learned that there was an endless list of rules to abide to he decided he much rather find an apartment and make his parents pay.
“Just one more street,” He mumbles in the back seat of the taxi.
He only has one box of knick knacks, a box of blankets, and a box of school supplies along with his back pack of clothes anything else he needed he would buy on the credit card his mother gave him. That is one plus of having a doting mother.
“Need help?” The taxi driver asks as he parks the car in front if the multi-story apartment complex.
He jumps out of the vehicle hastily placing one box from the trunk of the car onto another. “I think I’m good.” He replies before the driver has the chance to ask again.
The taxi driver gives one small nod before speeding away.
The man slowly turns to the old building he can barley see past the skyscraper of cardboard boxes. He can hardly even see the gray stones below his feet as he lifts the boxes and catiously steps past the fast walking pedestrians that cautiously walk around him. He feels his grip on the boxes begin to slip as he steps on the last stair of the apartment's entryway.
“Here let me help.” A voice says opening one of the double doors to the building.
The bell above the doorway chimes as he passes through in a struggle
The boy slowly enters grunting a thank you before settling the cardboard boxes by the concierge desk in the lobby. He sighs slowly glancing up at the skylight above and the spiraling staircase that ascends to the thirteenth floor.
“It's cool right.” The voice of the person that held open the door says coming beside him.
It is a tall man who appears to be near the same age as him. He flashes a fast smile his blue eyes twinkling for a brief moment before he speaks once again.
“I'm Brady, looks like you're a new tenant in the building.”
The man returns the smile then extends his hand to Brady who shakes it briefly. “Henry,” Henry slowly approaches the concierge desk before continuing. “That's right, I'll be starting college so I thought I'd stay in one of the apartments instead of a dorm.”
Brady sighs, “Wish I did that my first year, I hated the dorms.”
