On a hill somewhere there was a cave where a man entered. He had his torch with him and satchel. As he walked towards the end of the short cave he looked on the side. He rested his hand against the wall and wiped off the dust. He whispered a short spell on the walls, it glowed a tint of green. It revealed an ancient family seal forgotten by everyone except the man. As the light traveled to the edge of the cave it suddenly filled it with a shattered glass pattern then it crumbled. The man looked at the wall as it tumbled down and he looked outside and saw that the trees were shaking. The earth outside was trembling but it wasn't felt inside the cave. There was a new pathway. The man aimed his torch to the new path and it revealed two paths.
The man placed his hand close to his mouth and whispered a spell. He then took a chunk of fire from his torch and gently tossed it in the air. The chunk of fire floated and moved the right which the man followed. The fire led him to the intricate maze that was hidden in the cave. The walk felt long until the man felt a little cold. As he moved closer and closer the colder it felt. The fire in his torch was fading and his guide dwindled. The man put his hand into his guide fire and sustained it. His torch on the other hand died out. His only fire is the one on his hand, he was being led by the fire.
After a time of walking he reached a dead end. He placed his hand on the dead end and it crumbled again. He moved in as the dust settled he saw what seemed to be a room. It was warmer than the cave. It felt like someone was still living there. The man walked towards the center. There he saw two coffins. He removed his hand away from the fire and it hovered to one of the coffins. He went to it and then the flames died. The man wiped the coffin of dust and tried to pry it open. It was tough like it was guarded by magic. The man continued to use his own strength until he had enough. He took something from his satchel, a crumpled piece of paper.
He fixed the paper and saw what was written. It was an elven text which the man tried his hardest to pronounce quietly. As soon as he had the confidence he stood near the coffin and with the remaining dust wrote some symbols. He stepped a few steps back and chanted the elven words. As he continued the coffin lit up and all of the sudden a violent gust pushed everything inside the room flying.
As the dust settled and the man sat he saw the coffin opened. He gave an unhinged smile. The person encased in the coffin hovered. The man stood up in glee. As the floating body opened its eyes and mouth revealing slitted iris and fangs, it was a vampire that the man unleashed. As the vampire inhaled he smelt the man and lunged towards him with unnatural speed.
With the vampire ready to devour the man he only said one thing that stopped the man in his tracks.
"Mercy my king. I am the one who freed you!" The man shouted in panic.
The vampire blinked and his eyes returned to normal, his fangs retracted. He looked at the man. "I am no king. And if you were the one who freed me, then you have my thanks"
"You are him are you? Klaus II, Son of the Irradicator?" The man asked.
The vampire stood proud. "Of course, and you are? A hunter here to kill me in hopes of getting glory and praise?"
"No. I am but your humble servant. I have freed you so that you may continue what you had already planned"
"And that is?"
"The destruction of humanity"
"But you smell like a human. Why tell me? Why do you want to end your own kind?"
"We are destructive creatures. We take only what benefits us, we give nothing back. We kill for fun, we are worse than the mindless beast. Name other species who do as such? Humanity is the disease that will kill this land" The man said in such anger.
"Then you think genocide will cure this land? Then what about you? What will happen to you? Do you wish to die as well" The vampire replied as he saw the point the human has made.
"My days as a human are limited, I cannot do anything else but to die. If I were given the chance I simply wish to be like you. To have the time needed to leave an impact on this world."
"And if I were to help you, what can I expect in return?"
"I am a competent sorcerer. I have freed, and I can also raise an army for you"
The vampire spent no time thinking. "Then come with me. I'll certainly need you". He nodded and left the room.
"And what of the other coffin?" The man questioned
"Leave it be. I do not wish to kill her nor do I want to free her." He said as he looked at the coffin and at the rubble beneath his feet. The vampire casted a spell on the rubble. It turned into a giant golem. It looked at the vampire. "Guard my sister would you, let no one in or out."
They both moved out. As they continued near the exit and passed to the two paths the vampire stopped. He looked at the man.
"Do you have any meat with you?" He asked. The man searched through his satchel and found cooked beef. He gave it to him. The vampire casted a spell which made the beef transform into a minotaur. The vampire pointed at the other path "Guard that path. Let them halfway. And don't let them out."
They walked and reached outside. The vampire inhaled the air and felt that everything changed. The man continued to walk down, the vampire followed. As they walked further they saw the horizon with different heights of skyscrapers. The vampire paused and acknowledged that everything truly changed. As they reached the ground there was a car parked.
"Please enter my liege" The man said as he opened the door. The vampire entered and the human closed the door.
The human went to the driver's seat and started the car. "I am sorry if you were expecting a carriage. But to be honest those things are considered ineffective by today's standards" the man drove off "I have to bring you first to my house, to let you replenish your strength. Then we can start planning humanity's downfall" He added.
The vampire smiled as he looked through the mirror. Everything his eyes saw was good. And in his mind thought all good things must come to an end.
