Syun arrived at Puerto Dito. She had a weird trip on the way but she didn't let it bother her. She walked around the city and she saw different walks of life. There were no hints of prejudice against humans. Everyone is living in harmony. Different groups are all blended well. Syun continued to walk towards the park. There she saw people enjoying their lives. Humans doing zumba dances, elves playing catch, and dwarfs sketching the park.
She saw a bunch of kids playing with a ball. One of the kids missed the ball and it rolled towards Syun. One the kid chased after the ball, Syun grabbed the ball and gave it to him. The kid was curious about Syun's cape. He saw the bear and he was wide eyed.
"Is that a real bear?" The kid asked with genuine curiosity.
Syun nodded. As the kid froze and admired the cape. A few minutes later some of his friends arrived to check what's taking too long. One of them, an elf, saw Syun's cape and froze.
"Are you her?" The girl asked. "Are you the slayer protector?"
Syun tittered. She didn't know what to say but she ended up telling the truth. "Yeah, I am. How did you know?"
"My dad showed me your picture. He said you killed the great elven bear that was hunting your friend." The girl said.
"So killed a bear? She's that cool?" One of the boys shouted.
"Yeah, my dad said that a great elven bear is the hardest bear to kill. So that makes her a thousand times cooler" The girl replied to her friend.
"Hey why are you here?" Another kid asked.
"I'm an adventurer. And I wanna ask you guys, do you know any armor and weapon shops?" Syun asked the kid.
"Right over there!" One of the kids pointed out, Syun looked back and saw the sign that said 'Adventurer's Alley'.
"Thanks" She smiled and started to walk away.
"I wanna be like you when you grow up" The girl shouted at Syun. Syun simply smiled. Every kid then started to say the same. This filled her with awkwardness that she simply smiled.
As Syun continued to walk towards the adventurers guild she saw different people walking towards the Adventurer's Alley. They were fellow adventurers. She saw different people with different types of armors and weapons. She walked around and saw a store with a window full of guns.
She physically stopped on her tracks and admired the display. She was reluctant to enter but did so anyways. She entered the place and saw that there were different types of guns hanging in the wall. As she slowly walked toward the counter enjoying different types of guns she stopped and saw a M249 light machine gun on the wall. She was mesmerized by them.
"Can I help you?" An elf said on the counter. She startled Syun.
"Hi. I'd like to trade my gun for that. And I'll pay from the remaining cost." Syun simply replied as she placed her shotgun on the counter and pointed at the light machine gun.
The shop owner took her shotgun and inspected it. He was very thorough with inspecting it. The shop owner then looked at her. It took a minute then she asked the question that Syun has heard from every elf from the last two weeks. "You're her right?" The shop owner asked.
"If you're asking like every elf. Yes I am her"
"Good" The shop owner said as he rested the shotgun and moved to the wall where the light machine gun was placed. He took the gun and came back to the counter. "Because normally I wouldn't even let anyone touch this. But for you I am ready to sell this bad boy" He added as he smiled.
Syun was about to pay the shop keeper when she saw a couple of P90's on one of the glass cases. She removed her dual submachine gun and pointed to the P90's "I'd like to trade these in as well. I'd want to upgrade to the P90's"
The shopkeeper simply smiled.
Syun got out of the shop with her new weapons. She continued to explore the small town where she could see few cars and trucks move throughout the street. She continued to walk until she saw a diner under a lodging house. She walked in through the glass door and saw that the ambiance of the place was very welcoming. She continued to look around at the menu, then she looked down at the food display. It was a self serving place. She took out a tray from the side and ordered a piece of chicken and potatoes.
As she paid the cashier and found a table to sit down someone walked outside the employer's door caught her attention. It was the man she shared a ride from the bus stop. She wanted to talk to the man but he was out of the place fast. She wondered if the man lived here or worked here. Or maybe he's the owner's son. Many questions filled her mind until her phone rang. She looked at her phone and saw that it was Yuna, her friend back home.
"Hey Yuna, how are you?" Syun asked.
"I'm fine HP, and you?"
"Please don't call me that. I only did that because I knew I'd get this sweet looking cape." She said as she laughed lightly. She heard her friend laugh.
"Anyways where are you?"
"I'm at Puerto Dito, and you?"
"Home. I'm here just for the weekends, your folks are asking if we're working together." Yuna said as her tone shifted.
"What'd you tell them?"
"The truth, we decided it's best to work with other people. Helps with survival and stuff"
"Well to be fair people from our town recruited you because they're scared to ask me" Syun laughed and so did Yuna.
"Oh by the way. I looked up Puerto Ditto, and the first thing it said on the net is 'it's a small town that is home to the best dried fish delicacies and impressive marine resources. This is one of the most developed towns in the entire land besides the main city.' So do me a favor, if you can find a good dried fish bring some for me" Yuna told her friend as she laughed.
Syun smiled. "I'll bring you a kilo. Hey can you do me favor?"
"What is it?"
"Can you find any relation between this town and the tale of the thousand year old twins?" Syun said in an unpropitious tone.
"Is that the reason why you're there?" Yuna asked her friend. Her concern showed through her harsh tone.
"No, I got curious and well-"
Before Syun could finish her sentence someone burst through the front door. Everyone looked at the man. He was drenched in his own sweat. "He took him, he took the kid!" The man shouted.
"What happened?" the cashier asked the man.
"My son, he's missing... he went with his... with his friends at the mountain to play. My son played... played hide and seek" The man struggled to form a sentence. Then someone gave him a drink. The man chugged the drink and continued "He went to the mountain and played hide and seek, he hid in the mountain and hasn't come out since. One of his friend came after my son but they also took him"
"Have you gone to the police?" One of the men asked him.
"They said that they'll probably return soon and the cave there is empty. I asked if I could file a missing persons report and they told me to wait for twenty four hours. Honestly I don't know what to do" the father replied as he held back the tears.
Syun only observed. She knows that the police are probably right but the feelings of the father are too strong for her to ignore. "Yuna, just text me anything you find. I have a job to do" She told her friend as she ended the call. She stood up and approached the father. "Can you point me towards the cave?" Syun asked the father.
The father sobbed as she looked at Syun. "You're. You're her... the one every elves are talking about. The slayer protector." The father's voice was filled with hope.
"Yes. And I'm here to help you find your son." Syun simply replied with her voice filled with determination. Because for the past few weeks she's been slaying, now it's time for protecting.
