Syun allowed the kid to run ahead of her. She kept her distance from the kid while making sure to look behind them. She knew that they weren't being chased off. As every step they take gets colder. They're being hunted down and she prepared herself to fight whatever it is chasing them.
The creature chasing them could only be seen as a towering silhouette. Syun heard the kid catch his breath so she changed her priority. Rather than looking back at the ones that are chasing them she opt to protect the kid. Her only means of monitoring their pursuant is by the intensity of how the ground shakes.
As they continued to run the ground shook twice more than before. Her instinct took over as Soon grabbed the child and they rolled away from what appears to be a volley of rocks hurled at them. A thunderous earthly voice echoed around the cave. Syun looked back to see a giant golem charging towards them with violent intent. The golem smashed its hand at them but Syun used her gun to obliterate the monster's arm. As Syun and caught her breath she saw a few stones float towards the monster's arm forming a new one.
The monster took a step then joined its hand together and smashed at Syun. Syun's reflex kicked. She snatched the kid by the collar and they rolled out of the way.
"I'll fight this thing and I want you to run." Syun said as she looked at the kid.
"How about you?" The kid asked. His voice filled with panic.
"I'll be right behind you." Syun assured him as she began to fire at the golem. "Run. Now!" She shouted at the kid.
The kid ran away, putting a considerable distance between them. Syun stood up and continued fire at the golem. With her bullets that kept the monster at bay.
Meanwhile on the other side of the cave. On a different path from Syun is where Kounna is walking. He calmly walked while keeping his guard up as he kept a mental note of what Syun said. Although he is a human and can't feel any sense of magic, his gut is telling him that he should be on high alert. He had his hand over his holster and his eyes looking out for danger.
The only reason why Kounna was here in the first place is because after he got a brand new gear he found a place to eat. Coincidentally the owner of the food place had a cat. That said cat went missing earlier this morning and hasn't been home since. With an overnight lodging as a payment Kounna accepted the job and is the reason why he's here. That is also the reason why he just took a small can of cat food from his belt. Kounna looked far ahead and saw a shadowy figure. The figure was slowly approaching him. Kounna opened the cat food wide open and then took out his gun. As he waited for what would emerge his tension was relieved when he found that it was the cat he was looking for.
Kounna immediately grabbed the cat.As he was about to turn around and walk away the cat purred and leaped out of his grasp. Kounna followed the cat wanting to catch it. But the cat led him to a child who was crying. The cat came near the kid and rubbed itself around the child. The child stopped crying momentarily and looked up. Kounna saw the child and relaxed his face. The child felt relieved to see Kounna. He didn't know what to say to the child but he knew that he had to bring him along.
"Can you stand?" Kounna asked the child.
The child simply nodded.
"Good. I'll get us out of here." Kounna informed the child as he took the cat and handed it to the child. "All I want you to do is to hold on to the cat. Can you do it?"
The child simply nodded again, but this time he had a smile on his face.
Kounna started to walk at a pace in which the child could keep up. As he walked he occasionally would look back to the child to check on him. But before they could walk far the cat violently snarled. This made Kounna alert. He and the child stopped. They both waited for whatever the cat snarled at. Slowly a figure bigger than the cat emerged. It was a minotaur. As it blew its horn and gave a violent exhale. It eyed the two of them.
Kounna saw the minotaur preparing to charge. His instincts kicked in as he grabbed the child and grappled away from the monster. The minotaur hit the cave walls. Kounna placed the child aside. The child was visibly shaken by the sudden attack.
"Hey. I'll kill this thing so I want you to hide. If I shout run, you run. Okay?" Kounna instructed. The boy nodded quickly.
The minotaur blew his nose in frustration. He looked at Kounna. He then lowered his head and pawed the ground before charging. As he charged Kounna ran towards him. Kounna fires his grapple at the minotaur hitting the shoulder. Kounna quickly ducked down, dodging the monster. The moment he was behind the monster he tugged on his grapple. The sudden pull halted the minotaur but not enough. The minotaur removed the grapple on his chest. This action jerked Kounna to the nearby wall.
The minotaur charged again. Kounna saw the monster and rolled out of the way. He then grappled away from the monster, making sure he was also taking the fight away from the kid. While he was carried by his grapple he made sure to fire at the monster. His aim grazed the monster's shoulder and body. But the bullets seemed ineffective.
"Ah screw it." Kounna remarked as he holstered his gun.
He took his grapple gun. Pressed the back and flicked it, straightening the whole thing. Kounna posed for a pitch and swung his grapple holding hand wide. His grapple released a chord thicker than before. And the tip was bulkier and sharper than the normal tips. It was the upgrade the dwarf gave him. A modular whip for his grapple. Kounna used his weapon effectively.
His attacks were effective until the minotaur plowed through and tackled him to the wall. Kounna felt the pain. He kicked the monster in the jaw. The minotaur grabbed him by the collar and tossed him across the cave. Kounna managed to land on his feet.
He struggled to stand but got his footing. Kounna growled as he exhaled. He pressed a button on his grapple which retracted the whip. With his right hand he took his collapsed batton. He unfolded it only to reveal it wasn't a batton but a sword. He pressed another button that made the entire sword to be electrified. The minotaur only stared at him. Kounna smiled as his face showed excitement. He then uttered a word that invited a rematch.
"Well. Olé."
