Independence Day.
What does it mean?
Nowadays people merely view it as a paid day off, or an extra amount paid because it is a holiday. Many others simply take it for granted that the centuries-old date of freedom from the British Empire still holds.
In the following stories, various people observe and celebrate the day for its historical meaning, while others simply view it yet another day of their ordinary lives. Life in the United States for many, who’re immigrants, this holiday doesn’t have the same meaning. Rather, they as are most ordinary folks, are simply trying to survive day by day to the best of their abilities while avoiding getting sick and missing work.
Wear your masks, obey what the governors are telling you, and don’t listen to the current administration…they’re quacks.
