I shook my head at him and opened the door.
The room was much smaller than the one I woke up in earlier, but it was still very big. The walls were a plain, dull white. Some pictures of flowers dotted the walls, but for the most part it looked boring.
"Ugh..."
The best part was the giant bed in the center. It looked super comfortable. I jumped onto it
"Ahhhhh..."
I sighed in happiness. Thankfully I got this nice bed at least out of all of this nonsense. Sleeping on the floor of a cell was the worst. Especially with that dumb... guard.... and prince...
My thoughts trailed off, since they events of the day were catching up to me. But I couldn't sleep yet! I needed to figure out what was happening and formulate some sort of plan for dealing with this.
I let out a big yawn, and struggled to get my thoughts together. But it was a vain struggle, since the edges of the world went dark.
...
...
I stood in an empty void of pitch darkness. I tried to squint, but I couldn't see anything.
"Where did I get to this time..."
I started walking forward, even though I had no idea where I was going.
"Hngh... more walking, really?!"
As I kept walking, I saw a small light.
"Finally!"
I started running toward it, but stopped when I heard voices.
"...what the hell where you thinking?!" said an annoyed, feminine voice.
"I could've sworn he had the 'Player' flag!" replied a familiar voice. Wait a minute, this was the voice of the fairy from earlier!
"Rinea, your actions could've caused severe issues! We're meant to only guide the 'Player' character, not some random NPC?!"
My mind was swimming. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
The fairy—Rinea—replied in a sad voice, "I'm sorry... I just... I thought..."
"Make sure it doesn't happen again."
"I-I will. But Talia..."
"What?"
"Something is... off. That NPCs data doesn't match with what we were given."
Silence.
Rinea continued, "T-Tali—"
"Are you challenging orders?"
"O-of course not! B-But..."
"I would advise you stay quiet if you wish to keep your tongue."
Once again, the voices went silent.
(What does this all mean?!)
Suddenly, Rinea's voice asked, "Is someone here?"
"What are you talking about, Rinea? It's just the two of us here."
"No, I think I feel another presence."
I held my breath. I definitely wasn't meant to overhear this conversation, but there was nowhere to run! I was in a dark, inky void!
The voice from earlier—Talia I assumed—scoffed, "Once again, you're behaving strangely. It's not possible for anyone else to be here."
"I guess you're right..."
I slowly let out the breath I had been holding. Just when I thought I'd escaped danger, the 'ground' underneath my feet broke into shards.
I stifled my cry of surprise as I started falling. I looked around to see what the hell was happening. Rinea was also there, but she didn't look surprised or concerned. I saw the sillouette of another figure, but it was too blurry to make out anything else.
I closed my eyes and resigned myself to whatever happens.
...
...
...
"WAKE UP IDIOT!!!!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAH!!" I screamed and jumped up in bed.
I blinked a couple times to register my surroundings. Dull white walls with flower pictures. Looks like I was back awake. What a strange dream.
A pair of bright violet eyes stared down at me, inches away from my face. For a moment I was transfixed by their beauty. I reached my hand up to touch—
"What do you think you're doing?"
I flinched and drew my hand back and saw the person to whom those eyes belonged to. Not only were his eyes gorgeous, but so was the rest of him. His hair was short and brushed neatly, but a couple stray tufts of hair stood up stubbornly. It was strawberry blonde and looked so good. That wasn't even considering his sculpted facial features that came straight out of a teen magazine.
"I asked a question?" the familiar voice said.
Wait a minute. This voice...
"Rafael?!" I asked, shocked.
He glared, "Don't answer a question with a question. What do you think you were doing?"
"Uh... nothing, just sleepy," I replied. There was no mistaking it, that voice definitely belonged to the annoying guard.
He looked suspicious but didn't press the issue, "His Majesty has called for a breakfast meeting and requires your presence." He looked me up and down, "Did you sleep in those clothes?"
"Yeah," I replied, "I was too tired to search this room for clothes, and besides, these are comfy."
I left out the fact that I hadn't changed out of them for 3 days back at home, but what he didn't know won't hurt him.
Rafael looked disgusted, "Do you know how difficult it is to maintain those sheets? It's important to wear appropriate attire when going to sleep!"
"Sorry man, I was totally exhausted from lying down on the floor of a jail cell."
He shook his head, "First, do not refer to me as 'man'. Second, you were the first prisoner I'd seen that slept so deeply."
Yeah... I kinda was able to fall asleep anywhere. In high school, people found it pretty funny. Didn't expect that to extend to a gross cell though.
"Whatever you say. Next time, I'll just sleep naked."
He sputtered out loud, "Wha—D-Don't even think about doing that!" His cheeks were red.
Huh, didn't expect him to be the type to get easily flustered.
He regained his composure and continued, "M-Moving on, His Majesty has made arrangements for your attire. The door to the left opens to the bathroom where you can get ready. Make sure you are prepared, I will be outside."
He slammed the door loudly. I chuckled to myself. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
