Hermes knows the consequence of his whistling. From far, he sees the animal running in his direction with his tongues hanging out from each of the three heads.
- Missing me already, Cerberus? Sit, boy, I can’t reach all of them ... - he says smiling as he gently pets the dog's left head while the right one licks Hermes' shoulder. - Now go to your owner and warn him of my arrival... You could save me work if you could talk. Come on, goofy dog!
As soon as Cerberus hears the dry pat on Hermes’ trousers, the animal gets up and escorts the man along the river, each head vigilantly looking in different directions.
The deceptively calm river hides its depth and prevents the passage of the living. Both sides of the river are not very different, on the other side of Hermes and Cerberus, there is a large green plain. It is easy to see from a long distance that there are people approaching leaving behind a trail of freshly stepped grass. Living haven’t been around for many years, only the dead, but these are only souls and don’t leave marks. Lately many of them ask if they are in heaven when they look at the landscape. The messenger smirks every time with this question. How dare mortals wish to share the same space as the gods? From the moment they are born until they take their last breath, human beings are destined for the Underworld, the domain of Hades and Persephone. Everybody has a very different idea of this place and become surprised by the brightness, the green flowering fields and the trees full of ripe fruit. It doesn’t seem so bad after all, and few want to get back to their living form.
After some time walking, the two reach to a small anchorage with a long boat and an old man sitting in the back with a long wooden oar in his hand.
- You’re late, Hermes.

The first rays of the sun come through the backyard door and hit golden wooden floor of the hall. The house comes alive as Aunt Irene slowly opens the window shutters, one by one, and looks at the sparrows looking for food. She puts her old Italian coffee maker on the stove while the toaster is already defrosting two slices of bread and in the strawberry jam is a spoon waiting to be used. The bubbling water warns that coffee is ready with the wonderful smell invading the kitchen. A good way to start the day.
Alex opens the door, gives his aunt a peck on the cheek and hums an animated tune.
- Good morning, my dear!
- Good Morning! Are there any croissants? - Alexander opens the freezer and is pleased with the sight. At the same time, Selena enters the kitchen almost dragging herself.
- Morning, auntie and Alex...
- Look, who’s up. Do you want a croissant too? I’m going to have one for myself. Did you sleep well, princess? Let me guess, you want to drink this.
Alexander pours the fresh coffee in her cup and hums again, this time a song from the night before. With a spoonful of sugar, he looks at his sister and after a sign of approval, he puts it in the steaming drink and stirs.
- Could you talk less? And please, stop with the music… How can people be in such a good mood in the morning? It’s not normal ...
- Drink your caffeine dose, little monster ...
