"Get off me, asshole!" Eric shouted as he struggled to maneuver out of Kayden's grasp.
"Five more minutes," Kayden mumbled as he pressed his face closer to Eric's stomach.
"Kayden. Your mother has already been in here twice. She says you have an important guest today." Eric stated in frustration.
Kayden raised his head and met Eric's eyes. "I wasn't aware that I had an engagement. In fact, I was hoping we could do a little bit of baking today."
Heat rose to Eric's cheeks as he dropped Kayden's gaze. "We can do that afterwards."
"Okay," Kayden grinned before ruffling Eric's hair and jumping out of bed. "Don't bother changing."
Eric raised an eyebrow as he followed Kayden outside their bedroom, still in his pajamas. "What about your guest?"
Kayden shrugged. "It probably isn't important seeing as I didn't know about it until now. All my employees and contacts know and understand that I don't do last minute meetings unless it's an emergency." He briefly glanced at his phone and smiled. "I don't have any missed calls so it's not an emergency."
Eric shook his head in amusement before following Kayden down the stairs and to the kitchen.
"KAYDEN! WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG WITH YOU?" Susan screeched as she entered the kitchen.
Kayden just stared at her, a brown sugar poptart raised halfway to his mouth.
"Your guest will be here any—"
The doorbell rang.
Susan let out an irritated growl. "Go change into a suit. And you," she pointed at Eric, "don't say anything."
Eric looked at her with narrowed eyes and was about to say something until Kayden beat him to it.
"Mother, I'm not changing to meet someone I didn't schedule anything with. And Eric can say whatever he wants. This is his home." Kayden all but snapped.
The doorbell rang again, causing Susan to dash to the front door.
"You're still an asshole." Eric stated in a no-nonsense voice.
Kayden rolled his eyes before taking another bite of his breakfast.
Five minutes later and an elegant woman was being led into the kitchen by Susan. She had beautiful chocolate brown hair and gorgeous sea green eyes. She had the perfect completion and looked to be a few inches shorter than Kayden and taller than Eric.
"Kayden, this is Shandra, your fianceé." Susan stated in a lovey dovey voice.
Kayden arched an eyebrow before setting his last poptart down on the table. "She's what?"
"Your fianceé. We talked about this months ago. She's the daughter of my boss. Don't you remember?" Susan asked in a sugary voice.
Kayden frowned at Shandra in annoyance. "We never talked about this. Despite what she may have told you, we will never marry. Besides, I'm not even interested in women."
Eric held back his laughter as he took in two shocked and furious faces.
"I'm also moving out, Susan." Kayden continued as if nothing happened. "I don't know why you've suddenly changed, but I'm not the key to your promotion. I'll also be taking over Eric's case. So don't worry about adopting him."
"You can't do that." Susan shot back in anger. "You can't move out."
Eric looked between the two with a frown. This could not be happening.
"I am a successful twenty-six year old business man. The only reason I stayed was to enjoy my family's company. But you seem set on destroying that. I don't know what made you change. I have no desire to marry a stranger and you can't force me into anything." Kayden replied in a smooth voice.
Eric met the stranger's piercing gaze and shrank closer to Kayden who wrapped a reassuring arm around him.
"Let's go, Eric."
Eric quickly complied. He was beginning to realize that he wholeheartedly trusted Kayden. Whether that was a mistake or not...
"Where are we going?" Eric demanded as he opened the passenger side door to Kayden's car, briefly wondering if it was okay for them to be dressed in pajamas.
"Apartment hunting. I've had my eye on a few this past month but haven't said anything. I'm also going to pull some strings so you can live with me."
Eric stared at him in a mix between anger and hope. Anger at his assumption that he wanted to live with him and hope that he might never go back to the orphanage.
