A couple of days passed by, Elora tried acting as normal as possible. During family meals, they would usually just talk about upcoming researches. During Senthya's free time, she would help with Elora's articles, methodologies, and such.
"So, how are you liking the University so far?" Bragos, Elora's step-father asked.
"I do love the facilities, however, I was curious about something," Elora replied.
"What is it?" Senthya asked while serving the food and sitting down on her chair.
"well, you see… this weekend, my group is meeting up in the University's library. Do you think I would be able to find more sources and articles for my research there?" Elora explained.
"Of course! You know, you should be using the library more often! Your father and I have contributed a lot!" Senthya jokingly bragged.
"Then do you think I could access the Tier 3 section?" Elora straightforwardly asked.
There was a sudden quietness in the room. Elora looked down at her plate, she knew the questions was risky. For the first time, Bragos placed down his newspaper. Senthya sat upright with a shocked expression in her face.
"And why would you need to go there in the first place?" Senthya directly asked. Senthya and Bragos exchanged looks. And there, Elora sat in her seat with confusion. Elora knew this would surprise them.
"Well, I feel like the answers to my interests are there! besides can't you just let me in Mom?" Elora jokingly pleaded to her mother. "You know I can't do that, I'll get in trouble…" Senthya said with a sigh. Since Elora's only an assistant, she only has access to Tier 1 and 2 sections of the library. Even average citizens only have access to Tier 1 sections, high ranking officials and people in the University have access to Tier 2 sections of the library. Elora knew her mother's accomplishments. Elora's mother has access to the Tier 3 section since she is part of the board of directors. As Elora notices the look on her step-parent's face, she assumed that there's got to be something worth discovering in the Tier 3 library section. Elora thought that it's only a matter of time. Elora knew that she had to see what's inside the level 3 secured area.
"Maybe next time…" Elora mumbled. "El, please be careful. You know very well that the government secured that section for a reason." Bragos explained. Elora just nodded as a reply. She understood that she had to obey her parents. However, her drive was far stronger, she was determined. She knew someday, she had to get in there somehow. Elora felt a little bad after thinking such ideas however, she was just too compelled.
They continued the rest of the evening just eating silently. The evening went by swiftly. Later on, Elora tried her best to sleep. "Something isn't right," Elora thought. A lot had happened within a week, anxiety just kept filling in her head. She was worried that something could've already happened with her body, and she just doesn’t know it yet.
The following day, Elora woke up with a headache. "Ugh, I hate this" she muttered while rising up. As she prepared herself in the washroom, she inspected her body. She looked at her hands, her legs, her chest, and her lips. "That's weird, it been a couple of days and no change…at all…" Elora whispered to herself.
For the past few days, she has been carefully self-diagnosing her own body. Her AU-watch even showed her own statistics. The screen showed: "HEALTH LEVEL: 8%" The watch shows the wearer's body statistics. The scale ranges from 0 to 100 percent and having a 100 means being in a critical or painful condition. She brushed off the 8% for her mild headache. As long as the wearer had 30% and below, this means they could still function enough in public or in society. Today, Elora was also feeling worried. She was about to meet up with Raziel, and she's wondering if anything had changed with his body too.
As Elora head towards the library, she passed by a few grey places. One of the famous grey places was the Ekler memorial park. Everyone was practicing good social distancing. It seemed like a very normal day. She also saw both lower and higher class citizens. The place was also diverse. Ekler memorial park was one of the good places to meet and as well as communicate with other people. There were small shops and entertainment around it. In the middle of the memorial, stood a huge statue of a person. This person was the highest elder, 10 years ago. Elora read somewhere that a decade ago, this highest elder had helped the society develop and revolutionize. Apparently he gave 3 things to the people: development, peace, and order, he had also proposed the laws that their city is currently using and benefitting from.
Elora didn't really give that much regard to him. She has always thought that the laws weren't really all that good. During her teen years, Elora was curious about what had happened before the laws have been implemented. Like any other person, her memory of her childhood seemed foggy. This is why she was motivated to read the contents inside of the Tier 3 library section. She thinks that whatever the contents, she does find in the Tier 3 section, will help her with her whole curiosity issues.
When she entered the library, she looked around. The place was quiet for a grey area. There weren't many people in these types of areas. Usually, the place is heavily guarded and has a specific limited number of people. The government does not want places like this, to be crowded or have a high density of people. She walked around the place. She did notice security cameras in some corners.
Elora passed by both Tier 1 and 2 sections of the library. She felt an urge to quickly find the Tier 3 section, and when she did, she was tempted. She stood in front of the huge door. "Obviously locked" she muttered disappointedly. As she was about to touch the code pad, someone had interrupted her.
"Good morning Elora!" Ami greeted Elora with cheerfulness as she walks towards Elora.
Surprised, Elora replied, "oh Good morning to you too Ami!" As Elora waved and tried to act unsuspiciously, Ami stood in front of Elora, and gave Elora a big smile. Ami was wearing such cute clothes that fit her personality. Elora thought that Ami was indeed such a preciously little girl. Ami might be a University student, but Elora views Ami as somehow like a little sister.
And 2 arm's length behind Ami stood, Raziel. He said shyly, "Hello…" Raziel was wearing something similar to what he wore during the first time they met. He wore simple clothing. It was clear that he did not want to be noticed.
Elora nodded and smiled back. As they continued to walk to find a study table, Elora glanced back at the Tier 3 door. She was a bit disappointed. Raziel noticed Elora's indifference. He looked at the same door. In his mind, he was also partially interested in what's behind the door. And then, he notices that he was looking at Elora more, he knew that he was far more interested in the unique girl he had just kissed.
When they found their table, the two girls sat at the grey chairs. To avoid awkwardness, Elora tried to sit beside Ami, by "beside" meaning the chair was an arms-length apart. In front of Elora, Raziel then sat. All three of them prepared their materials and started their work. They studiously researched and brainstormed for a good proposal that would definitely get them in Dr. Swers' good side. Especially Ami, she looked like the one who is giving more effort among the 3 of them. Elora could tell that Ami had a lot of peer-reviewed articles, for the literature review. The literature review is like a paper that contains a summary of knowledge of more substantive findings that would be related to one's research.
As Elora glances at Raziel, he too was indeed preparing. Elora was a bit glad that her team was not slacking off. She looked at her papers, she had thought a lot of what she had wanted to do. She isn't quite fully ready, but she's just glad that she had a draft and an idea.
Time passed, the 3 had accomplished quite much. They had a couple of breaks and talking, but their time was well spent. Slowly, the 3 students had opened up just a little. A bit enough for them to laugh and enjoy each other's time. The whole day seemed tiring however they were glad. The table was full of papers. The sun had gone down, the library became empty, and the atmosphere was quiet.
"What! I didn't notice, it's dinner time!" Ami blurted a little loud. Ami had a panicked face.
"Oh, you're right! Do you have to go already?" Elora said with concern.
Ami replied with a pouty cute face, "I'm sorry!! I promised my sister, I would help her with her studies too!"
"It's okay, Elora and I can wrap up," Raziel added and smiled at Ami. After smiling, he looked at Elora. Elora glanced back, but before things got weird, Raziel looked down at his paper and continued to work. As they said their farewells, Ami packed her stuff and left.
Unbeknownst to both Elora and Raziel, they had been expecting to spend more time with each other. Finally, there they were, all alone in the library.
