Since today Is Onam in the beautiful green state of Kerala I thought I would post a quick doodle.
I've included some pictures from when I actually was able to celebrate Onam a few years ago.The pictures were clicked by someone who was quite dear to me at that time.Furthermore, the Pookalam picture is from 2 years ago back when Kerala had seen the worst floods possible. It's made using different flowers and there are often competions, to see who can produce the biggest, most colourful ones.
I've literally written Happy Onam in Malayalam.
Kasavu is a handwoven cream colored fabric with a gold border and is traditionally worn by malayalis especially during Onam & other festivities. This same material can be used for making other items of clothing too for the occasion.
The hair is adorned with jasmine flowers and is known as Mullapoo.
Sadhya means banquet in Malayalam. Sadhya is typically served as a traditional dish for Onam, the state festival of Kerala & means banquet when translated.11-12 dishes are prepared for this meal and served on a banana leaf.
Thanks to my friend Chitra for the picture.
This is a story about the little conversations in our lives that make things a little more exciting. Sometimes its not about grand gestures but just about trivial things. Each page is a single comic so feel free to read from anywhere.
