"It's a deal. Friends." Zekaj smiled, holding his hand out, gold flames appeared in his hand.
Hunter hesitated at first, before connecting his hand with Zekaj's. Hunter gasped as the feeling of sparks was felt throughout his whole body.
Retracting his hand, Hunter looked at the palm of his hand. In the center of his palm was a bronze symbol, the symbol of Zekaj.
"What the hell!" Hunter said, staring wide eyed at Zekaj.
"Huh?" Zekaj looked at Hunter's extended out hand. "Oh, it's my mark. We made a contract." He smiled.
"What? Why?"
"Well, it's what us demons do." Zekaj said.
"You're a D- d- DEMON?" Hunter screamed, slowly backing out of the room. He knew little about demons, but all he knew was from the whispering of his parents and from TV and movies, which didn't have much credibility. Hunter was severely un-informed.
The more dangerous spell books were kept in his parents' room. Only his parents and his sister could use and read them. If Hunter had access to these like his sister did at his age, he would have never summoned Zekaj. It still made little sense why he was never told of the dangers of summoning demons.
Zekaj, not understanding Humans that well, didn't see a problem with this. He didn't have time to explain himself as Hunter darted up the stairs. Zekaj stood there for a bit before running after Hunter.
"Wait it's not like that!" Zekaj said, chasing Hunter up the stairs. Damn, that human was fast.
He had almost gotten Hunter, but the human quickly turned around. Extending his hand, palm facing Zekaj, grey magic surrounded his hand suddenly and a powerful energy shot from his hand throwing Zekaj back down the hallway.
Hunter knew some spells, just not many.
"The mage is strong." He mumbled to himself. It took a powerful mage to knock a demon of his power down.
Getting back up, Zekaj saw that Hunter had locked himself in a room. This room being Hunter's bedroom.
In the bedroom, Hunter was searching all over for his phone. He never could keep track of the darn thing, and he needed it now more than ever. If he could just call his parents, they could fix his problem. He looked at the door after hearing a light knock. He could see the shadow of Zekaj just outside the door.
"Hunter?" he asked. "Let me explain, please?"
Hunter remained quiet. He continued to stare at the door. Finally he saw the retreating form of Zekaj walk down the hallway.
Continuing to search for his phone, he didn't notice the figure appear in the dark corners of his room. He especially didn't see the glowing gold eyes hovering in the darkness.
"Does this help?" Zekaj said in the corner of his room. Hunter screamed, falling back onto his bed and pushing himself as far away as possible. Hunter stopped as his back hit the wall.
Zekaj was standing in the corner of his room, in the shadows. Zekaj stepped out of the shadows revealing the fact that he looked, human?
"I have like 4 forms. My main one being the one you saw in the basement, this being my more humanly form, the shadow one from when I'm summoned or I need to move through shadows like I just did, or my enraged form." Zekaj looked human, his ears were normal, tanned skin, hair coating his chest, arms and legs. Zekaj had no horns and he had human eyes that were still the same pale gold though. He still had the markings, which were still gold. In his human form you could tell he was around eighteen. "Does looking human make you more comfortable?" he asked.
"A little." Hunter mumbled. He couldn't believe he didn't put two and two together and realize Zekaj was a demon. He summoned a demon. He mentally cursed at himself for being an idiot.
"Good!" Zekaj smiled. He walked over to Hunter's bed, sitting himself right next to Hunter. "So what do you want to do?"
"Can I uh, ask a few questions?"
"Go ahead." Zekaj answered.
"Are you gonna kill me?" Zekaj was shocked, eyes wide. He then noticed just how scared and uncomfortable Hunter was and scooted away.
"No, that was never part of the deal." he whispered. "I had to make the deal with you or else I couldn't stay on earth and hang with you. I've only known you for a bit, but I like you, Hunter. I will never hurt you." He placed his hand on Hunter's to reassure him. "I really wanna be friends."
Hunter was shocked. Whenever he thought of demons he thought of them as mean evil guys. Zekaj was nothing like that, he seemed shy almost, lonely.
Looking in Zekaj's eyes, gave him all the reassurance he needed.
"Oh, that's nice. I- I do too." Zekaj looked back at Hunter with a wide grin, showing off his perfect teeth. "What exactly was the deal?"
"To be friends." Zekaj answered, causing Hunter to smile at.
"Um, How Old Are You?" Hunter asked.
"In Human years, I'm 18. You?"
"15, just a week till I'm 16." Hunter didn't know what to say next. He looked around his room, trying to think of something they could do together. "Wanna play Mario Kart?"
Zekaj looked at him confused. "Mario Kart?"
"Let me show you! I only have one controller though. We can take turns." He jumped off the bed, turning on the Wii.
Zekaj was just starting to understand Mario Kart after playing it for hours, when they heard the closing of the front door. Hunter's family was home.
"Hide!" Hunter whispered. He knew his family would freak out if they saw Zekaj. They would make assumptions about Zekaj and wouldn't give him time to explain like Hunter did.
Hunter looked around the room, trying to find somewhere he could fit. Zekaj was being no help at all, he just stood in the middle of Hunter's room watching his every move. Suddenly his door opened, and in walked his sister.
"Dinners downstairs, come eat." She said, barely looking away from her phone. Immediately she turned around, leaving his doorway.
Turning around, Zekaj was nowhere to be seen. He looked all around his room, trying to find Zekaj.
"Can he turn invisible?" He thought.
"No, can't do that." He heard Zekaj say.
"Zekaj?" He looked around the room. "Where are you?"
"I'm in your body. I'm talking through your mind." Zekaj said in Hunter's head.
"Can you read my mind?"
"Only what you want me to hear." With that Zekaj began the process of leaving his body, Hunter watched as shadow left his body, forming a shadow standing in his room. Slowly it turned to Zekaj.
"Cool right?" Zekaj said.
"Kinda? You kind of entered my body without asking." He said.
Zekaj frowned. "I'll ask next time, sorry."
"Don't worry about it." With that, Hunter extended his hand to Zekaj. "Lets get food."
Zekaj grabbed his hand, his whole body turning to shadow, and absorbed into Hunter's body.
"Gross." Hunter thought. He left his room making his way to the kitchen.
"Sorry it can be sparkles and rainbows, I'm not an angel." Zekaj said.
Hunter had just gotten to the kitchen when he laughed to himself.
"What's so funny?" His mom asked.
"Uh, just thinking of a movie I watched." Hunter said.
"Nice Save." Zekaj said, still in his mind.

Hunter - 1 Week Later - Age 16
Hunter felt a lot less lonely than he normally did, because he had Zekaj in his mind and in his life. It took a while to get used to another voice in his head. After learning how to control what Zekaj could and couldn't hear though, he enjoyed it. Having someone to talk to that enjoyed talking to you was nice. He loved having a friend.
Waking up the morning of his birthday, he quickly realized Zekaj was not in his mind or chilling in his chair like he normally did when Hunter was asleep, demons, unlike humans, didn't need to sleep. He could tell Zekaj wasn't in his mind because he always woke up to him telling him good morning. Demons, unlike humans, didn't need to sleep.
Where on earth would he have gone? Hunter searched the house to find it void of his family and Zekaj.
Deciding to get ready for the day, Hunter went to the bathroom. With the shower running, Hunter examined himself in the mirror. He noted how he looked a little taller. He had been scared that he had stopped growing, but even he knew that was ridiculous.
Stepping into the shower, he started his routine. Not noticing the figure that appeared in the bathroom.
"Oh, shit, you're showering." Zekaj said, causing Hunter to jump in shock, almost losing his footing in the slippery shower.
"Jesus Christ, Zekaj! Y- You scared the shit out of me!" He stammered.
Zekaj sat down on the toilet seat with the lid down, waiting for Hunter to finish.
Back in Hunter's bedroom, Zekaj finally explained where he went.
Hunter had immediately noticed Zekaj was wearing normal Human clothes. He was wearing black jeans and a black tee that clung to his chest nicely. Slowly Zekaj pulled a package out of thin air.
"Happy Birthday!" Zekaj smiled. Extending the package to Hunter. Hunter slowly grabbed it, still shocked Zekaj had gotten him a present. "I'm sorry I wasn't here right when you woke up. I had to go get your present. I was as quick as possible I swear though, wrapping is harder than it looks."
"Zekaj you didn't need to-" Zekaj cut him off.
"But I wanted to." Zekaj smiled. "You've only been in my life for a week but you've changed me for the better Hunter."
Smiling, Hunter unwrapped the gift. Inside was a Wii remote.
"So we can, uh," Zekaj rubbed the back of his neck. "Play together?" He looked up at Hunter with a shy smile.
Hunter's smile widened. Not even his parents bothered to do anything for his birthday and they've been with him all his life. Zekaj has only been around for a week and has already gotten him a present.
"Thank you." Hunter whispered, pulling Zekaj into a hug. Zekaj didn't know what to do at first, realizing he hugged Hunter back, resting his head on his shoulder.
"I could get used to this." Zekaj thought. He had experienced nothing like this before. It was nice.
