“Fuck!” Hunter thought, as he stared at his dad. His dad had just told him that Aj’s father, the Alpha of Salem Pack was at their home.
“We’ll be fine, trust me Hunter.” Zekaj replied. Hunter trusted Zekaj with his life, but couldn’t help but feel worried.
“Well?” His father asked again.
“Well?” Hunter asked Zekaj.
“Obviously, we have no idea what he’s talking about.”
Hunter acted the best he could saying, “I don’t know why he’s here dad.”
“Oh really? Let’s go ask then.” Hunter’s dad went into the hallway before peeking his head into the door, “Coming?” He asked, not believing his son.
Hunter simply nodded.
Hunter felt like he was walking towards his doom as he made his way down the hallway. His head was filled with the worst case scenarios.
Would they find out about Zekaj?
Would they be separated?
Is the alpha going to arrest him?
“Hunter, you really need to stop worrying. I already told you, we’ll be fine. They ain’t got nothing on us.” Zekaj tried his best to calm him down.
“But how do we know that? You could have missed something!”
“I didn’t.”
“But how do you know?”
“Like I said, This ain’t my first rodeo.” Sometimes, Hunter hated how cocky Zekaj was.
Hunter continued following his dad as he made it to the stairs. He could already hear his mom talking with the alpha. Was he by himself? Were the others here? Oh god he can’t do this.
“Hunter if you’re really this worried-” Zekaj paused.
“What?”
Hunter got no response.
“What Zekaj?” Hunter asked again.
“I could take control and talk us out of this.” Zekaj spoke. “I know you probably aren’t exactly happy about it happening last time, but I can get us out of this without the chance of you saying something dumb. No offense.”
Hunter thought about it for a moment. He wasn’t the best at speaking up for himself, and with an alpha in his house he knew he’d probably mess up and out them both.
He made his final decision as he stepped off the final step and into the living room. There wasn’t just an alpha in his living room. There were Betas, Soon-To-Be betas, the Soon-to-be Alpha and the Alpha himself. They were all staring at him.
“Do it.”
Hunter immediately felt the effects of Zekaj taking control, as his soul fell back and Zekaj’s came forward. He was able to see through his eyes but couldn’t move a muscle.
“They can’t tell that you're in control can they?” Hunter asked.
“Nope.” Zekaj said as he sat down on the couch, all eyes were on him.
Alpha Colin, Aj’s dad, stared him down as Zekaj looked around the room. Every wolf in the room was on guard expecting a fight to break out. They had no reason to believe their kids were lying.
Alpha Colin was a very scary man to Hunter, but to Zekaj, he was nothing.
“You should act at least a little bit nervous.” Hunter said.
“I couldn’t be nervous even if I tried.” Zekaj replied.
“So why are you all in my home today?” Olivia asked.
“We’re here for him,” Colin said, pointing at Hunter, well Zekaj, in a way. “He attacked our children, which is not only an attack on our pack but also our treaty.”
The treaty he was talking about was between the wolf pack and coven. It divided the area between the two, as well as a peace agreement. Both would help each other in the time of need. Hunter/Zekaj attacking them was considered a violation of the peace agreement.
“What?” Zekaj said, again, through Hunter. “Attacked them? How could I possibly take on multiple wolves at once.”
“Don’t try to play coy with me boy. Yesterday afternoon after school, my boy, along with his betas, were attacked by you using dark magic. Taking on the form of a shadowy beast.”
“Hunter?” His father, Jaxon, asked. Zekaj just looked at him like he was an idiot. Obviously what they described was something that Hunter couldn’t do. But Zekaj? Most definitely.
“How could I have one, managed to take down 3 wolves, and 2, even do magic like that? It’s like nothing I've heard of before. At least in terms of human magic.”
“I know what we saw, it was demonic, shadowy and piercing glowing eyes.” Tess said, staring Hunter down. Everyone in that room was staring him down. Hunter knew if he was alone he definitely would’ve buckled under pressure.
The only person who wasn’t looking at him was AJ, who was staring off into the distance. He looked like he wasn’t even there.
The adults started to talk back and forth over what exactly happened, completely ignoring Hunter’s presence, as usual.
“A demon must have attacked you guys while at school. It must’ve taken over Hunter and attacked the wolves. It’d make sense why you can’t remember, and why the wolves weren’t able to take you down.” Jaxon said.
“Nice, dad helping me out and belittling my talent all in the same sentence.”
“But what about the cameras,” Zekaj asked. “wouldn’t they be able to see everything that happened?”
This was the first thing that grabbed AJ’s attention, their eyes connecting.
Hurt.
That was all that both Zekaj and Hunter could see on his face.
“I didn’t give him the bruise on the side of his face.” Zekaj said, AJ still staring at Hunter. Max himself had his eyes on his alpha, there was definitely more there than usual, Zekaj noted.
“What?” Hunter said.
“I didn’t cause the bruise on his face. I didn’t really harm any of them. Just scared them. Well mostly.”
Hunter was quiet for a while as they watched his parents talk with the wolves. They were going to head out and check the cameras and see what they caught. Hunter was surprised they didn’t check them right away, maybe they wanted to get to him before he escaped or something.
“Zekaj, what exactly will they find on the cameras?” Hunter asked, AJ had broken eye contact and started looking at the floor.
“They will see you getting confronted by them, then the fight. After they simply walk out of the school. It’s like I was never there.” Zekaj replied.
“Ok well our forces are going to head out and get the camera footage. Hopefully we can work together and figure out what demon caused all this and clear everyone's name.” Alpha Colin stated, smiling to everyone in the room. AJ continued to stare at the ground, he knew what was coming. They’d discover he beat up Hunter and made Max and Tess help.
Hunter couldn’t help but worry for AJ as crazy as that sounds. Was it possible that AJ’s father didn’t take the fact that he lost a fight well?
As the wolves left, AJ’s face never changed, he was completely scared and worried. He looked broken.
“Zekaj we can’t let his dad see the footage.” Hunter said.
“WHAT?!” Zekaj all but screamed in his head, it even hurt a little bit.
“His dad might be an abuser? I don’t like drawing conclusions but I can’t let him see what he did. AJ might be a bad person but he doesn’t deserve that.” Hunter’s parents continued to show the wolves out.
“Oh.” Zekaj said, not giving off much emotion.
“Give me control back.” Hunter said. As soon as the words left his mouth he felt his soul push forward through Zekaj’s. It was weird having control again.
“I’m going to go to my room.” Hunter told his parents, he was back in control.
“Wait a second honey.” his mom said. “Do you remember anything from yesterday?”
“Well you have two options really, say that AJ got Max and Tess to help beat you up, or state that you don’t remember most of yesterday.” Zekaj said.
It was an easy decision for Hunter. AJ might be terrible to him, but he can’t take the idea that he could be getting abused at home, and if he admitted it to his parents that AJ beat him up, gods know what would happen to AJ.
“I don’t really remember anything from after school to this morning mom.” Hunter lied.
“We’ll get to the bottom of this Son don’t worry.” Jaxon smiled, Hunter gave a fake smile and darted up the stairs, skipping every other step.
Once he got in his room, Zekaj left his body and sat on his bed. Zekaj was glaring at him, giving him the silent treatment.
“I need you to go to the school and delete the footage.” Hunter asked. “Please?” Hunter gave his best smile, one that he hoped Zekaj wouldn’t be able to deny.
Zekaj just glared at him.
“Of course I can’t say no to him, Dammit.” Zekaj thought.
“Fine.” Zekaj growled, fading into shadow. Hunter just smiled as he left.
Hunter was left alone in his room, waiting for Zekaj to get back.
Zekaj was back quickly, flopping onto Hunter’s bed. “Happy?”
“Thank you Zekaj.” Hunter said.
Zekaj just mumbled something unintelligible to him.
They had successfully dodged this bullet. But a gun typically had more than one bullet loaded.
