Desmonde decides to go ahead of his friends on their evening patrol around the old, crumbling walls of the Legatus District. Discovering a Messenger Demon has already breached the wall and begun its influence of the surrounding area, he charges in and proves to be victorious in slaying the demon. After the chaos and confusion subsides, he meets Claude, a young nobleman from the Silverdale District who seems especially out of place. Worse yet, he hardly seems grateful that Desmonde narrowly rescued him. Their chance encounter is no doubt the first of many strange happenings in this old Kingdom.
